That is so cool looking vfem, I hate you have to part with it. Been trying for years to get dh interested in bees but can't seem to do it. Oh well hope you get a buyer soon. and things start looking up for ya'll.

id say get a local urban nuisance colony of honey bees as there are many (put up an add or get in good with some bee removol or even exterminators, as theyre happy at times to relocate bees instead of offing them if good at job and know about bees, as to know them seems to be to love them or at least respect them), and sell the honey, as youll make alot more on them and the plants theyll help with in your crop, than under selling the mini hive. you can also break the hive up and sell the bees to other potental bee keepers, as shipping selling replacement queens and drones is big money. just trying to help, as looked alot up on it, but unfortunately out of bees for years till im in a new house.

Vfem - you get yourself to the doctor!!! Us moms are always putting our health off, but with your symptoms you need to get yourself checked out! I will track you down and drag you to the doctor myself if I have to! I've had too many loved ones with crazy health problems and tragedies lately, I don't need a good chicken person going downhill, too!! Go to the doctor!!! I'm also going to go to your etsy page and put in an order for some yummy treats soon. That honeysuckle jelly I made of your recipe is the best jelly I've had my whole life! But I feel like I cheated a little!

But anyway, you need to be getting better!!!

After a difficult week I decided to be as spontaneous as is possible with two little ones and ran off to the beach to stay with some family. So, I'm checking in from the Outer Banks! My husband is keeping the chickens for me which has been great because they are bonding. He keeps saying how much he loves them which is adorable. I'm headed back tomorrow after a visit with my grandmother in Bertie County. Luckily, I'll be back here in just a few weeks for more family time! My boys are at a fun age and are both really enjoying the getaway!

Ruthann, sorry I missed you again but I had DH pick up the feed since I skipped town. I'm sorry you got lost! I grew up here so luckily I can just ignore the signs and go off of memory. You'll get the hang of it!

Greene acres, hope your girl is better! Poor thing! How's the BLRW? I'm still not 100% convinced about my other "boy" since he's still not crowing! And he's never done the tall neck stretching strutty stuff either. I would love to see pics of how yours is looking. He sure was pretty! Hope it's going well. Your cochin is so sweet. It's funny, the other little ones do get bullied a bit but even though she sticks with the little ones for the most part I've never seen her get picked on. I think she's so laid back and chill that she never draws enough attention to herself for them to worry about her. She just happily does her own thing. She's a sweetie.

Hope you're all doing well - and that you will be doing well soon, vfem! Take care!

Good Morning Everyone!!

Glad to hear DH is doing well with the chickens & bonding. More importantly, I am happy to hear you were able to sneak away with the boys!! I hope to hear how your trip went!! We're going to be taking DD with her Aunt & Uncle from London, UK to the outer banks in a few weeks!! I am definitely more excited than she is...but how soon all that can change!!
smile.png
Haha...maybe I'll see you at the OB instead of the feed pick up site!!
gig.gif
I think we might need to break down and set up a play date

G&A - Since you can't positively tell that it is the Orps laying, I am going to tell myself they aren't laying and therefore I do not have to get jealous!! Afterall, green is NOT my color!!

Coop Update: We are planning on putting the finishing touches on the coop this weekend. Just a few locks here and there and then trim...to make the whole thing complete. We will be working around
barnie.gif
an Orb Weaver Spider who has decided to build a web across the barn. It's quite impressive for a nasty creature!!

We took DD to her first ever baseball game last night. She was more interested in watching all of the people in the crowd than the game. It was cute, saw one of our neighbors there too!! I'm not familiar with the MudCats - didn't even know the mascot was a catfish!!
lau.gif
It was a nice stadium, just a short drive from our house. The fireworks scared DD but that meant more cuddle time with mommy!!
big_smile.png
I can't tell you who won...2 hours and we only made it to the 4th inning with 1 run on each side...it was a SLOW game!! We left after 9pm (WAAAAYYY past DD's bedtime) and it was just starting the top of the 4th inning. Yeah. Well, DH and I said we're going to plan a date night (gasps) and see a game without the wee one!!

Any babysitting volunteers?? Haha...jk Have a great day everyone...it felt WONDERFUL outside this morning!!

Good Morning !

One of my little bantam Cochins laid her first egg yesterday, she hatched 2/28, so almost 5 months old.

My Sizzles and blue plash Silkie are laying also, they are all about the same age. ( 6 months old)

Did I just find an excuse to hatch ???

You guys are what I needed.... tough love!

After I get off of work today I am going to have to goto Urgent Care. I did call dr's all over Fuquay and Angier. They're all booked or mainly on vacation and can't schedule me until late August. Booooo

SCM, you are sooooooo right. Daughter ran a fever this week and I took care of her and just waited out how I felt making sure she got better first. I say it makes us good mommies... but my husband is right, if I don't pay attention to me how am I going to be there for them again later? We gotta keep a little love for ourselves!

Thanks Laughingdog, I do appreciate the suggestions. They only reason I'm worried now is they are cutting hours at my job and I just want to make sure to have some $$$ stashed just in case. Our cost of living has gone up a lot and I'm going to try to cut back when my hours are cut but part of that is not taking on so much. This is hubby's hobby and he's decided to sell the hive and he'll build another one next year if times are better and we'll try again then. Until then, my neighbor has bees and he's going to help him and just keep learning, couldn't hurt!

Bhep, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))))

Ok, off to take the wee one to the babysitters then off to work! Wish me luck so I don't fall asleep when with a client!

vfem, I just took a visit to your web site. wow really nice, and as soon as I can I will place an order, the biscotti looked yummy and the jams and jellies too.

Looks like we will be processing our extra roos sooner than we had hope too. A couple are getting out of hand with the girls. They always taste so good in the soup and dumplings, but it doesn't make it any easier

everyone have a wonderful weekend and vfem, let us know what the Drs. say.. thanks.

Beth, hooray for the eggs! I just had one of my buff silkies lay her first egg the other day (have 3 so not sure which one) and then I believe my buff bantam orp pullet laid her first egg two days ago as well.

Now if I can just get my now 8 month old (
