Just wanted to touch base with everyone. We are all doing well in my neck of the woods. Had a few "scares" but it turned out to be the wind opening & closing our crawl space door.
Talk about waking up in the middle of the night thinking a tree fell or something. DH is happy to see the coop withstanding this wind. We've had nonstop rain since early this morning (I think around 2 am). The wind picked up about 10 and is dying down here and there. We lost power for 2 hours...DD slept through it and DH complained he had "nothing to do". LOL He definitely doesn't find sitting and reading a book something to do. Right now we are putting a puzzle together watching the lights flicker on and off wondering if the power will hold. I hope everyone out there is doing well and not getting flooded. We closed up the coop but left the run open so the boys/girls could go out if they felt the need.
when the wind isn't blowing you can see them all out trying to "catch" raindrops!!
Thank you everyone for all the tips!! I really REALLY need to remember to read the forum before I go shopping. I stocked up on ginger snaps (worked last time), saltines, and some good old fashioned ginger ale (I HATE that stuff) along with some sour apples and candy. I wish I had known about the teas...I LOVE herbal teas. I have chamomile for when I can't sleep (or when I wanted someone else to sleep...tee hee) and one that's for lactation.
Those won't help me just yet!! DD is LOVING the weather...she is happily playing with her mini water bottle and a zip-lock baggie, running around. Who would have thought the best toys were the "found" toys... remind me why I buy toys again??
We did see Tink recently. I was happy to see that she was okay and managed to stay safe. She is currently using my car as an umbrella and I am sure she's just waiting for it to lighten up enough to get to her food on the deck!! Please keep us posted on how everyone is weathering the storm!!
Praying for everyone's safety and their livestock/pets' safety as well!! In case you didn't hear the emergency system warning...remember: don't drive through water...be safe, don't drown, don't get electrocuted!!!
