BHep - you are welcome to visit any time, just let me know!! I am sure I could find a kiddy pool somewhere if you happen to "accidentally" leave a few ducks with me!! (Hey, are ducks like chickens and will lay with or without a mate?? Haha...see, I am so new, I don't even know that I don't know!! I may need a lesson while giving a sewing lesson??
) I am in the process of making a dozen or so quilts (
) so you are more than welcome to have a sewing day at my house!! I will confess, I have a NICE sewing machine (yay for wedding presents!!) that is computerized, so it takes me a while to remember how to use the traditional ones!! Between the two of us, I am sure we could figure it out. If you go to connectingthreads.com and look at their Folk Art fabric...I was seriously thinking of making the chicken place mats for my mother's kitchen...
she likes that folksy stuff and who can resist seeing a chicken stare up at you from the table (better than on your plate!!)?!? LOL
Funny side note: Went to collect eggs last night and as I was trying to sneak in the coop....we had an escapee!! Lucie (my spotted Maran -cuckoo?? I don't know how coloring works and I keep forgetting...pregnancy amnesia) darted right under my skirt and was having a grand old time running around the yard pecking at bugs here and there. We had fun corralling her back into the coop...the rest were VERY unhappy that she was out and they were not. Funniest part, when she finally got back into the coop, both Jemimah and Jeremy (the BO and definite alphas) BOTH gave her a side kick/peck as if to say, "Do NOT do that again young lady!!"
I SO want to free range, but I am terrified of anything happening to my boys & girls....we have such deep woods, who knows what's in there...oh wait, I DO!! Coyote, Raccoons, foxes, owls....all sorts of predators. We've been so lucky/fortunate as of yet that nothing has come our way, I am afraid if I let them go, they won't come home.
I wouldn't be able to handle that.... okay, if Cotton-tail didn't come back I wouldn't be AS upset as if it was one of the others, but I'd still be upset. Cotton-tail is still on our chopping block list, but neither of us can bring ourselves to do it. I am afraid with my pregnancy hormones, I'd be a basket case!! I am glad I missed yesterday's postings as I would have been CRAVING some goodies. Good thing I stayed away...I already made a deep dish cherry pie for the DH and something called a chocolate snack cake for....everyone else?
Wait, I am the only one else... I have tons of apples too, so I would probably would have ended up making an apple pie or something (much to DH's delight). This is one time I am glad I stayed away!!
Wish us luck everyone...we ordered some trees for our orchard that will be arriving in Mid-Feb (poor DH will be digging holes for a month probably)!! We ordered 11 trees in total - 2 apple, 2 pear, 2 peach, 1 nectarine, 3 cherry and 1 fig!! I am hoping to have some fresh, organic fruit in a couple of years!!
<sigh> Off to cut out some fabric, have a great day everyone!!
