I've done more research and it appears to be Coccidiosis. I need to find Corid solution to treat the rest of my flock. The timing seemed right for this, not obvious anything was wrong. Then off balance yesterday, then almost dead today. Seems like the right thing.

I'm bummed, but I have to proactive to save the rest.

Anyone know if I can get Corid at TSC?

And thank you so much for your sympathies.... I'm surprised I haven't broke down crying yet, but I've come close. It must be all the worrying about the rest of the girls.

Wow Shannon, not really familiar with cocci affecting such older birds??? That is something that chicks are more prone to.

If you are going to treat and cannot get Corid I would recommend Sulmet and you should be able to get that at TSC. Just make sure that is what it is and you don't treat the rest of the flock unnecessarily as the products can be hard on their systems.

Maybe someone who has had cocci affect and older flock will chime in with some advise.

Hi All

Vfem.. cocci ? I have not heard of older birds getting it either ?? Does not mean it doesn't happen. Wild birds carry all sorts of nasties.

And new and improved strains of nasties. So Sorry again. I would also look into Wazine. Roundworm will kill, even before you see worms.

Ruthann... I have a whole closet full of x-mas gifts already. I 've been shopping for 2 months already. Ya know....because my kids aren't getting anything but coal this year

Well...sold lots yesterday at the auction.. Prices were down this week

too cold or whatever. But sold 9 roosters, all my Quail (14 , I think ) a bunch of chicks and a couple pair of Serama. Also sold 2 pea chick. They were the only thing that did good...real good. Should have taken a few more.
hu.gif
Well... at least I don't have to feed them. At last few times I went I did ridiculously good....

Still have more to sell, ran out of boxes and space in the van.

Locked down eggs last night under 4 broodies. 3 are new mamas, so I gave them each 4 eggs, they are sharing a large dog crate. The other is a seasoned mama...she has 10, in her own brooder hutch. I would like to eliminate brooders in the house. I have 2 more broodies on hold

Not sure where I am going to put them yet

I will squeeze them in somewhere.

Jl - good luck is all I have to say! Mine are too young and crazy to attempt any words of wisdom. But I do wish you lots and lots of luck and patience!!!!!!

I know I've missed a ton more but busy busy few days with sick kiddo, family in town, lots of outside time, fall baking, and other fun stuff! I love this weather! And my little guy is getting ready to turn 1 year old so I have a party to get ready for!!!!!!!!
smile.png
In chicken news, I do not have any new layers! So only 3 for sure out of the 9 are laying! They need to get in gear!!! They range from 23+ weeks to 25 1/2 weeks now! I have had a grand total of 14 eggs so far! I know I know, being greedy and impatient!

Hope you all take care and have a great day!!!!

Bless your heart I would not go through that again for nothing, but you both will make it. Jl you by the skin of your teeth. My DD has 3 kids of her own and is seeing just what it is like to be a parent and she is doing it on her own. So what comes around goes around, or is that the other way? lol

Anyone selling any hertiage chickens?

Bhep, are you planning on going back to that auction this coming Sunday? I haven't been yet and really want to go. What kind of variety do they normally have?
