Help!! My sweetie Sookie is making this near constant low quiet groany kinda noise since this morning!!! Her comb and wattles have grown and gotten redder the past couple of days so any chance she's just miserably needing to lay her 1st egg? Just shy of 26 weeks. The only other thing I can notice is that she has one little black spot on one of her wattles. Is she ok? Do I need to do anything? She is eating and I can't comment on her poop as I haven't seen her go. Going to head back out there and watch her for a bit but I'm a nervous wreck! She's one of my sweet sweet Sussex! Thanks guys! And love the chickies of course!

I was able to spend a good bit of time out there earlier and I do think maybe she's just gearing up to lay an egg. I hope! She was kinda needy and stuck close by while I was there and finally hopped up and checked out a nest box - along with my little EE who hasn't laid an egg yet! So maybe??? The noise is just a low grumbly noise. She did chill out and quiet down after I was there a while. She is stressing me out with worry! I'm hoping to go check on her again in a minute... And SJ - I hope she doesn't have an egg stuck!!!!

Speaking of egg songs, i wonder whar Ruthanns sounds like

I'd guess but I am way too far to pick up a cake in person. Hope your hen blesses you with an egg soon scm. When my 2 Lav. Orps were getting ready to lay it was so cute they would go and lay in the coop and watch everyone like they were taking notes on what to do when it was time.

SCM - My 2 cents is that it is her pre-egg song....she is letting everyone know that soon (very soon) she will be laying an egg and wants everyone to come and congratulate her!! (One of mine was LOUD for days before she actually laid an egg).
