Thanks so much for the info, Matt and Jessy! I will definitely be attending a couple of shows in the beginning of the year!

Heard the first rooster crowing this morning.

Well attemped crows! DH asked me what that noise was when he heard it!

I wouldn't have known it was the first crow attempts if I hadn't heard some examples from BYC people. Now to figure out which one is crowing. I am betting my EE roo since he seems to be more dominant over the BR roo. He's also more developed even though he is a week or so younger than the BR roo. I wish DH would let me get rid of the BR roo, I know I've seen him bully the pullets before and I don't really want more barred chickens if we decide to hatch any of our own eggs when they come.

There is a chicken swap coming up at the Lexington Farm and Garden this weekend. DH asked me about it, and I hadn't even sent him the link to the CL ad that advertised it! Hopefully we can go and maybe DH will let me buy a couple more hens. I know if we keep both roos we need more hens. I want something with some different colors. Lots of reds and browns in our flock. Anyone have suggestions? I want something that will lay well. Broodiness would be nice too since we want to hatch some eggs but have no incubator at the moment. Just don't want something that is constantly broody. Prefer something that is a good broody and a good mom. Also has to be friendly. I don't interact that much with the chickens now really, but I don't want to have to watch my back constantly either and I want something that if I have to catch it I can easily. Plus the boys go out with the chickens too and I want them to be safe out there too.

Did anyone go to the Wicked Chicken auction?

I didn't get any hens, but got a pair of Indian Runner ducks. My husband fell in love with them after seeing them at the fair. I got the pair for $8. The good news is that they have made buddies with my single gander, and while I had been casually trying to find him a girlfriend or a home with other geese, I think he may do fine with his new buddies.

The ducks have a lot of personality and I'm told runners are good layers. This pair looks pretty young to me. I'll try to snap a picture this evening.

Tomorrow is lockdown for my first set of eggs in the incubator. I candled this weekend and tossed one, but still have 18 or 19. I should have chicks by the weekend! I guess I better figure out what to use for a brooder nwo that the ducks are in the kiddie pool!

Here is our son, Mateus, who I'll be taking trick or treating tonight!

Ally.... a plastic storage tote is fine or an old playpen/pack and play. I use the totes, easy to wash.
Congrats on the ducks.... I have a bunch of runners, they lay blue eggs.

Love the Scooby costume.

We had planned to go to a trunk or treat thing, it got canceled. 2nd choice was at the park, canceled also due to the rain here. I don't feel too bad, we went to a Halloween party on Sat. And had a Halloween party at church last week. Kids have enough candy to last until Valentines day

SOS... cute little roo. I have one just like it. Don't have any hens in the Crele, so he is with some golden seabrights for now.

Well I went as a fronzen ice pop
