Good morning everyone!!

It's chilly out there this morning, so try to stay warm!! I went and did a terribly STUPID thing...

I scheduled my monthly prenatal visit during rush hour...not to mention I have to wake DD up 2 hours early so we can leave (takes an hour to get there) and make it in time. WHAT WAS I THINKING??

You're right...I wasn't!! LOL. Well, I hope everyone has a great morning!!

On a chicken note: I was bragging about my Dutchess - my Maran/EE who lays the green eggs....well after I boast about here telling everyone she's my best layer...lays every day....sure enough she didn't lay at all yesterday. Everyone else laid an egg BUT her!!

Figures!!

That's what I get for bragging on her!

So, I need help. I mentioned earlier in this thread that I bought 18 Penedesenca eggs at the Morganton show but don't know the name of the seller... I really want to find out who she was because I am interested in learning more and maybe buying more eggs after this hatch. She was driving maybe a greenish SUV and had two frizzled serama she said she bought off a friend while there... I would guess she was in her late 30s to early 40s, glasses, very nice and knew a lot about her birds! Please help...

But.... the lady putting it on (Lori) is my really good friend, says she is hearing talk of it as people come in to the store so hoping for a good turnout.

The store is really nice, you almost have to go just to experience that.

It looks like I may have had my first predator attack yesterday. I've been free ranging my flock all along in the back yard during the day, but sure enough, my husband came home to a poof of Barred Rock feathers. We can't find a body anywhere. The feathers are concentrated to a small area, probably 2 feet across. It's not a TON of feathers, though. Not nearly enough for a whole chicken.

We do have a dog, but he never messes with the chickens. I'm not saying he never will, but I just feel like if it were him we would see more scattered feathers and eventually a body or parts.

I'm thinking hawk. Any opinions?

In other news, it's cold.

Has anyone been on this website called pinterest.com? I've been browing it this morning. It features lots of recipes, DIY projects, decorating ideas..Pretty neat!

Does anyone have any tried and true homemade Christmas gifts that they do? I'm thinking of trying to make some this year..

My German Shepard has goten a cople of mine a while back & it was the same way, all the feathers in the same place & no body parts anywhere, the 2nd one she got she took it to the same place as the first one & ate it, so I would not put the dog out of mind, keep your eye on him, I didnt think mine would do it eather but that problem has been solved.
