I'm excited this morning too: found out that my hunt for the lady who sold me the Penedesenca eggs is finally over! Luann Keller emailed me back and she is the wonderful lady who I met at the Morganton show and who I got the eggs from and she has offered to sell me more eggs from all 4 colors!!!

Most of my facial washes, body creams, spa kits, etc...all come from her!! Hope that helps!!

I have 14 in the brooder now, and 4 more eggs from my partridge silkies due to hatch in a couple days. whoohooo.

something to keep us occupied over the coming cold days - babysitting indoors.

Wooohooo! Two perfect little chickies!!!! I tried to get a pic early this morning but it was all flash and blur. Hopefully at nap time I can sneak out and get a better shot! I hated to mess too much because it is sooo darn cold out this morning!!! I can't let my little Silkies get a chill!!! Esme seems to be doing a great job so far. I need to sneak out the shells and the one dud egg later today, too. Bhep, glad to hear that her sad looking comb and wattles are ok. She had perked up a bit this morning - I'm sure just from the excitement of her new babies! I can't wait for her to get up and stretch her legs and eat and drink a bit! I just hope it warms up!!!

ramirez - I do need to add a little bear to my flock! But it'll have to wait! And when the time comes I sure hope my little bear is a girl!!!!!

I need another chicken like a hole in the head. I am just uncontrollable when it come to hatching.

These EE are for sale if anyone is interested. I have 1 out. Pics when the hatch is done. They are due tomorrow, so this is the early bird.

NewHomesteader, wow. Thanks so much, those are wonderful ideas! That's exactly the type of thing I had in mind. Nobody in my family NEEDS anything and I feel like homemade gifts might be appreciated a little more! My Mom and I are also putting together and family recipe book with digital scrapbooking software..
