sad day tomorrow, I will be giving away 9 chickens but good news is they will be going to Michaelinnc over in Old Fort, I am having to move some out because my coop is just too crowded and can't convince dh to build me a nice barn like HT has so I can have all I want. So thankful he is in need of some chickens, and I can help him out. Just sad to see them go, I love them all.

Well, went to doctors today... he asked lots of questions and scheduled me to goto a lab in town next week and get some test run for him. it mostly looks like an autoimmune disease, and it could quite possibly be Lupus. So we just have to wait and see.

However, I came home today to my husband letting me know he got laid off today. Saw it coming was just hoping for a couple more weeks to get prepared. I guess we just have to deal with it, I'm just not sure how long the insurance will be good for and if I can keep going with doctor appointments and tests.

For now I have cough medicine and I'll try to get more sleep until I get my energy back so I can figure things out.

As my mom says, "God never gives you more then you can handle."

p.s.- My husband does have another job interview on Monday, so I have hopes for the best of course!!!

Morning all

I am up and about...doing laundry & checking chicks.

I feel like I am having a bad hatch this time around.

Seems like only 1/2 or less hatched.

I am grateful for what hatched and hope for more but I am used to having awesome hatches, I didn't do anything differently.... Yesterday was hatch day and I still have 3-4 pips, so we will see what happens. Maybe they will all be late hatchers.

On a good note, all that hatched are doing great. 16 little cutie pies.

AND....BRRRrrrrrrr it is nasty and Windy out there. I think I will scramble up some eggs for the chickens, add some oatmeal. A nice warm breakfast.

vfem, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss
of your husbands job. Your mother is right,
God won't give you more that you can handle,
it's all in His hands.
One word of advice....Don't let your insurance
lapse, even if you have to do COBRA. If it does
lapse, you could have a hard time with new insurance
covering an existing condition. It sucks, but just be
aware!

Good Morning Everyone!!
I am up and have been fast at work re-arranging our office (moved the hubby's entire movie collection to a closet and got it out of the office - phew he has a LOT of movie!! UGH). I spent all morning yesterday organizing my fabric stash so I would know what I have!!

I have a LOT of fabric!! Can't wait to use some of it to make myself a fun 1950's dress - that is once the baby bump is gone!!

IF it's ever gone...DH was already talking about how soon we could have another one!!

He loves being a daddy, so I guess I will let him talk all he wants!!
WHERE did fall go?? It's so cold and windy here - I am thankful for the trees as they stop most of it from hitting our house. Had to turn the heat on as DD was walking around with blue lips and shivering!!

On a funny note, I couldn't figure out why our one door was literally BLOWING air in... OOPS, I still had the screen in and didn't put the storm door up. Haha...guess I heated the outside for a day or two!! OOPS!! I blame DH for not reminding me...yeah, that's it!!

OH MY GOODNESS!! I just want to snuggle with the babies!! Glad Esme is being such a good mommy!! I'm sure she had a good role model!!

DH is almost convinced on the ducks!! They just need access to water (via a kiddy pool? since we have one laying around on the property still...I think) and what do they eat? They can share the coop with the chickens, right? The roos won't hurt them? MMMMMM Duck eggs!!

I am sorry you didn't have as good of a hatch as you are use to!!

We too wish you were closer...having someone to walk you through it, is always easier than trying to figure out what you are seeing on YouTube!!

Maybe that's because I just can't bring myself to watch too closely!!

We closed up the coop this weekend, and I can say my chickens must be cold as they are not crowing yet and it is already well after their usual time...maybe Day Light Savings Time is throwing them off a little bit!!

SCM... My babies are outside with their mamas and are fine. Esme is inside the coop and out of drafts so she will be fine. If you pick up one of your chickens, stick your hand under their wing and feel their skin... they are WARM.

The babies snuggle up in mamas fluff.... All is well.


NH.. I have a concrete mixing tub from Lowes for my ducks. A baby pool is fine. They need access to water to clean their nasal passage and keep their feather nice & clean. Yes the duck can share with the chickens BUT I would NOT recommend putting the pool in the coop or run.

That will make a muddy mess for sure. Do you remember my duck pen & shelter? I will get some pics later... A small covered pen and a shelter is fine for the ducks. My ducks don't even use their shelter

They are excellent foragers and eat weeds & bugs. I feed my ducks flock raiser or layer feed....whatever the chickens get, they get.
