Just had to pop on quickly while DD is down for a nap to let you all know the laugh I received this afternoon. I have been keeping the chickens locked up while we do the deworming and today so they could enjoy their crack...well, as I was feeding DD, I looked out and saw chickens EVERYWHERE!!

I don't know HOW, but somehow the chickens ALL escaped the coop...I went outside and all the doors/windows were locked up and yet there they were....well all but Miss Tiggy and that's because she was busy in her nesting box!! So instead of Beatrix Potter names, I am thinking they all need Houdini names!!

Wild - glad to hear that the little girl is doing well, despite the circumstances. Children really are resilient...if only us adults could be as forgiving and pliable!!

SCM - Thank you for your concerns. I have been trying my hardest to "go easy" but with a toddler, you understand how it is...there's no such thing as easy!!

I have been loafing the past few days doing not much of anything really because I've been extra "sore". Counting down the days until the next US to find out if this pain means things are improving or getting worse...

I'm so glad to hear that she's being so strong! ...and more so to hear the doctors are optimistic too! That's a good sign. I'm still going to keep praying for the best!!

Positive energy only from here!!!!

Here's a pic of the ugly eggs! *The first two look pretty normal, but yesterday's and today's are pitiful. Today's much more so in person*

They've been fine inside except one a couple days ago had a bit of blood in it. Not like the dark dried spot kinda deal but like a bright liquidy bit of blood.

Glad to hear she's handling the treatment ok, wild. Fingers crossed for a happy outcome!!!!!

Hmmm.... SCM, as I've heard with the darker egg layers, marans and wellies you can actually wipe the coloring off the egg if you catch it right after its laid since the dark tint is only on the outside of the shell and the shell isn't actually very good at holding color. So I'm wondering if its just a coloring issue and has nothing to do with her production?

Thanks... I was wondering how true it was!? I don't have any brown egg layers... only white & cream so I could never try it. That's why I was wondering if SMC's eggs were just diluted.

Eggs look fine to me...just a little extra dye.

ALMOST finished the coops, it got late, kids got home and totally exhausted. I have some running around tomorrow but will try to some pics. I have 2 larger coops that need their doors framed & installed and also need to add hard wire on doors, did a few as experiments, like it and have to buy more wire this weekend. A few odd and ends and done.

I got my 1st eggs from my Orps and BW Ameracaunas.
