soooo jealous!

Does anybody know where I can find a buff orpington rooster? I've search the auctions and craigslist. I miss my Wally Roo

First off...I am glad everyone enjoyed my disgusting photo of "egg junk". I kid you not, it felt like plastic and would not break up in the sink, just sat there!
sickbyc.gif
Needless to say, I tossed out the ENTIRE carton of $5/doz eggs!! I love my DD too much to even THINK about giving her something from that!!
sickbyc.gif
If you want to look at it under the microscope...I think it is STILL in my drain catch thingie (it's late and I can't remember what that metal thing is called.

)!! I'd be MORE than happy to hand it over to someone...after all, it would be rather interesting to know what it is/was...but more curiously...HOW did it get IN there??

LOVE the coops. They look SO NICE!! You all did a great job!!

Wild - I would PM GavinandAllison. I got my Orps from them, and my BO Roo is not only one extremely handsome fellow, he's HUGE!!
fl.gif
Good luck finding one!!

Green - Let me know when you play the lotto for all of us, so I can cross all my fingers, toes, eyes, appendages while saying extra prayers!! I could use another barn to start getting some ducks and a few sheep for milk/wool!!

Now on to sad news.
hit.gif
Susan has taken a turn for the worse. When we wormed her the other day, her comb had started to turn pale and today it was very pale. I am going to make her a special "treat" first thing tomorrow because while I did see her out and about in the yard, this evening she was cuddled up in the nesting box while the others were getting their treat. I placed some oats in front of her (which she LOVES) and she didn't even try to eat any. Perhaps they will be gone in the morning, not sure. I don't know what else to do for her....I don't know what else could be wrong. Do I force feed her? I know her crop was (at the time she was in the box) empty. What would be a good "treat" to give her that would be a pick me upper? I don't have any dairy products in the house (remember allergies) and I am fresh out of sheep's milk...aside from some raw sheep's milk cheese.
hu.gif
Maybe this is just the worse before she gets better, but I am starting to really worry now!!
fl.gif
Praying I don't go out tomorrow morning to find her worse off or....
hit.gif
I won't even say it!!
Because I cannot/will not end on a sad note, I will say that my two new girls...who are still currently nameless...are just the SWEETEST things EVER!! Oh my word, I just want to carry them around and cuddle with them all day long!!
love.gif
I was trying to put them back in the coop for the night (they or the boys knocked over the crate separating them...so they were let out to free range) and was trying to lure them into the coop with some treats. They came right up close to me and while they wouldn't eat out of my hand, they were right by me and didn't even run away when I was yelling at Tink (the stray cat) to go away!! Then, I picked up the white one and she just laid flat (haha...it was funny because she was in that, "I am ready to mate" position) and when I picked her up...nothing. The blue laced one was a little more standoff-ish but she was a doll to pick up too, and both of those girls LOVE to talk (they will fit in just perfectly with me...there, I said it so you all didn't have to!!
gig.gif
). Why did I wait so long to get Cochins?? They are now my absolute FAVORITE birds (shh!! Don't tell the others...I don't want them to get jealous)...although now I will have to actually remember how to trim butt fluff and such!!

I hate to come ask this... I'm terrible at it!

I know you all like to 'socially network'... don't deny it, you're on BYC 'socializing'! Hahaha

But if you could possibly share the link to our kickstarter program on your facebook, twitter or whatever you're using it would be GREATLY appreciated. It is very hard to market this out to all the people we know care. Being we're in NC and trying to make changes in our community, I'm hoping more people in NC see it and it can really touch their lives. Thank you!

Susan update: I am happy to report that Susan is still alive. I was worried about her last night. This morning she was seen eating which I know is a plus. Her comb is still light pink, but it's not white and I am hoping for an improvement. Still not sure what is wrong with her, but she's a fighter!!

G&A - if that was a chicken condom...I think it failed!!

ETA: So I sent an email to the egg company when I found the "junk" and I found their reply rather interesting. It was nice of them to offer me a coupon for a replacement carton, regardless of what they were trying to convince me of. I replied back to the chemist with a photo of the "junk" and told her that none of my chicken friends have EVER seen anything like that in their eggs. Should be interesting if they reply again.
hu.gif
Who knows. What do you all think?!? Here it is from their CHEMIST (why did they have a chemist respond to me??):
"Thank you very much for alerting us to your concern. We are very sorry that you found this inclusion in your egg. In the egg producing process, the hen will sometimes included other materials as part of the egg. It is possible that this was caused by the flaking of the duct where the egg is formed. It is also possible that this was a natural part of the egg. All eggs have a white stringy piece that surrounds the yolk called the chalazae. This holds the yolk in the center of the egg and is not a sign of fertilization. In some eggs these can be very large and well formed. These typically break down over time but are very prevalent in a fresh egg. Neither of these things are harmful in eggs but can be very unappetizing. We would love to send you a coupon to make up for the eggs that you disposed of if you would please send me your address. Thank you again for your comment and I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you have any others."

Another busy day, trying to get all the odds & ends wrapped up while the weather is so nice. Actually have gotten a lot done that has been on the procrastination list.

I moved some older chicks out to make room for my new chicks hatching today.

Hey all! This little silkie roo is free to a good home, and needs one, ASAP! We thought he was a she, and can not keep any roosters. We battled long and hard just to get to keep 4 hens in our HOA and don't want to rock the boat any more. We're hoping to give away to a near-by BYCer
smile.png
Any takers??

For those of you that saw my thread a couple months ago, this chicken did have minor head trama from a peck to the head that induced wire neck. I treated him with vitamins, and he no longer has any wire neck symptoms; acts and looks completely normal and healthy.
