I got a green egg today!

'Head-On' will be 4 years old in 3 months. We had treated her for a yeast infection(Vent Gleet). She has been back to normal for awhile and today laid an egg. A Laying Hen is a Healthy Hen.

She is my last green egg layer. Her Sisters are long gone. High-Speed was killed in an accident by Mom in 2010 and Collision's heart gave out this past Spring. I always loved their names "High-Speed, Head-On, Collision". All 3 were always the fattest birds I have ever had. Head-On still is. That is what took out Collision's heart. When we checked her insides, her heart was covered in a thick layer of fat.

Anyways, I am just glad my girl is back to normal. She is a white Easter Egger from Shook Poultry and lays army green eggs.

Here are Collision and HighSpeed in Nov of 2009: Picture 1, Picture 2
Highspeed is the one that had molted. Their dusting hole had went deep into the red Carolina clay and you can see they had dusted while it was damp/wet. That coloring doesn't wash out. The birds have to molt to be white again.

Good morning everyone.

Matt - so glad to hear your girl is back to "normal"!! It is a comfort for me to know that sometimes it can take quite a while for them to return to "normal". I hope she continues to do well for you!!

the names...too cute!!

Susan update: nothing new to report. Tail is still down, comb is still light pink and she's still alert and active (I will refrain from commenting on her still poopy butt, as I am beginning to think it's because of how she "sleeps" rather than an actual system - especially since her feathers were trimmed and such). At this point, I think she is just at the bottom and is working her way back up. I am happy that she is a fighter and hasn't given up!!

Baby update: For those of you who are aware...I go in today for a recheck and reevaluation of everything.

praying for a miracle, just hoping I will at least get some good news!! Ugh...did I mention I have to actually drive in the nasty triangle rush hour traffic to go to this appointment?!? I knew I moved out to the boonies for a reason!!

I hope everyone has a great day!! In case you are not counting...I will remind you...only 6 days left until Christmas!!

Oh, and wanted to show you the one I think is the mom to your EE. From the pic you posted on the swap thread I think they are looking very similar.
See the color in her wings?

All this chicken teasing is driving me crazy! I'm still riding my husband to fix the 3rd coop in time for me to get more birds. I hate having an empty coop! LOL
