Can I follow you following someone else??
I was way too early planting some of my seeds and late planting others...oops!! I managed to grow peas, green beans and some cucumbers (although they were very tiny)...I also managed to grow a TON of grass & weeds, but I guess that's what happens when you go away for a weekend and don't weed!!
I am still trying to figure out what zone we are in as several places put us at zone 7 and other do zone 8!!
I have a bookcase full of gardening books, but for some reason not one book came with a personal guide...or a personal gardener!!
Good luck...I'm sure with the help of our BYC'ers we will be able to do it!!
You are zone 7b dear
Its better then zone 7 in most cases, and allows you to do MANY zone 8 things as well as zone 7 things. But its limited. Some zone 8/9 things will NOT work here so be careful before splurging on an exotic plant or seed collection. I know we are EXTREMELY boarderline for Calla Lilies, I tried them anyways, they did well for awhile, but I lost some since our winter was colder then normal last year. Things like that are hard to call!
If you ever want to come follow me around you can. I'll be doing major 'hard' work in January/February moving dirt, building more beds, compost turning, tree feeding... all the prep for spring. I plant spinach & greens in February, I get Potatoes in buckets the first week of March, and follow that with carrots. Peas will probably go in early... and I'll plant more brussel sprouts in spring in a special area for a winter harvest again next year.
Garlic and onions went in the ground in October, and I'll harvest those in June.
I do notice after a couple of years of try and fail, not I have my calender of what works when stuck in my head and I just look outside one day and go "Oh, its time to plant this... or that!" I do love my gardening. Hopefully I won't get so sick this year and forget about everything.
