Its so awesome! I love having our own eggs YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Have a couple questions will she continue to lay everyday now? Why did she lay at 8pm? And what's the throw away period after worming, I just wormed using safeguard 14 days ago?
what cute chicks. How are you doing with such a quiet house now that your big machine isn't humming along? If the silence is driving you crazy, you are welcome to stop by and see us!!
Okay, well it would be more like taking a hike, but still!! I'll keep the tea kettle warm!!
DT - thank you for the offer. I will be sure to keep you posted, just in case!!
RF - Thank you for the suggestion. I was planning on soaking her again JUST to be sure. I soaked her a few times before the second worming, but I think it's a good time to do it again!! I wonder if I am doing it "right" though!!
I may have to wait until this weekend when DH comes home a bit earlier and can help me catch/hold her (and keep DD away).
Seems a bit chilly out there so if you go out...stay warm!!
Well, I took some advice from fellow byc'ers and gave Susan a big "dose" of some "mush" that included: yogurt, eggs, flaxseed (ground), kelp (powdered), oatmeal and sheep's milk (shh, don't tell DD)!! I brought out 2 bowls so I could plop one down in front of her and just see if it was her belly that was causing her so much pain or what. I did read (and was told) that if she was heavily infested with worms that it could take a toll on her innards. She SCARFED the treat down and later on in the day I noticed her comb was a dull red (not the white pink it had been) and her tail which was pointing down is now horizontal - so not up, but making it's way there. Because of this improvement, DH and I decided to hold off on doing anything drastic and continue giving her a probiotic treatment for the next few days to see how she fairs. I don't know if it's the food, a false recovery (as she has seemed to get better before...however her tail never perked up, so that gives me hope) or what it is, but I am not losing hope!! If she pulls through this, I may have to change her name to Miracle or something!
Thank you all SO much for your thoughts, messages, prayers, help, advice, suggestions, etc... It is such a comfort to know if there is something wrong you all are there to help guide us newbies and should the inevitable happen along our road, you're there to offer encouragement and support. You all are my unsung heroes and unseen (well...some of you) friends!!
