Good FRIDAY morning everyone!!

It's a chilly morning, so be sure to bundle up a little bit warmer!! I think I am experiencing my first ever "nesting stage" syndrome with this pregnancy. I spent all day yesterday cleaning out and rearranging/organizing all of our closets, mopped (on hands/knees of course) the kitchen/dining room floors (DD did push the bucket around for me and thought that was the BEST job ever!!), did laundry, stuffed diapers (okay, that's not nesting but a necessity...but still), made Rice Krispie treats for the DH, experimented with dinner (it had beef in it AND I actually ate a little!!

) and even managed to have a date with both the sewing machine and the elliptical! I will say though, this belly made mopping difficult and I think that is why my back is a little sore today!! OOPS!!

Nothing to report on the chicken front. All are doing well and are happy!! I think the Cochins and my Mutt are the only 3 laying right now as I have gotten some deep chocolate eggs and my weird no longer green but not brown egg. I do know Jemima is laying occasionally, but it is definitely not like what it was. C'mon spring, I need more eggs!!

We are planning on going away next weekend and so I am sure they will HATE me when we get back!! They literally climb on top of one another waiting for me to let them out in the morning!! Hopefully they will "survive" being locked up for a few days. No worries, our neighbor and former chicken owner has agreed to keep an eye out on their food/water for us!!

Good chillie morning .. Ruthann you must be careful not to over do.. It's cold out but not to cold to crow my roos have been going strong since their crowers were froze up for a few days when we were in the teens.

My Muscovy drake Opie is laying down by my feet like a lil doggie, he is so sweet

Looking to get a couple of bantams to add to my flock thinking lavender or chocolate, wondering what HT might have available around show times? ya'll got me hungry for some chocolates..

Good morning everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well this morning, and enjoying the fact its not in the teens outside! My bunch has been fed and watered but have not been let out of the pens to free range yet, I can hear the roosters all crowing out there now, very upset about this. lol. I am sure my few escape artists are out of the pens and making fun of all the ones who can't fly out.

My girls are apparently quite happy with this cold weather, I checked eggs yesterday and had 6 eggs out of the big coop which houses 10 hens. Then I found 3 more eggs out of the 8 bantam girls who are laying. So half my girls laid yesterday, not bad at all for January!

BHEP - you know with all your chick and egg pictures and stories of babies, you are making it VERY difficult to hold steadfast to keeping my bator turned off till mid/late Feb!!! lol I'm going through hatching withdrawls!

congrats on all the eggs, now have all your girls talk to mine. My BLRW are now ten strong and I am only getting 1 egg a day from them.

My girls have been slackers too out of 12 hens I have been getting 3-6 eggs a day.

I'm jealous that everyone is getting so many eggs. I'm getting a pullet egg from one of the new RIR pullets. I just wish she would learn to lay in the BOX. She lays next to the feed, next to the water, or wherever she is standing. She acts like a quail not a chicken. I put the BCM roo in there last night....he likes his harem to lay in the box and he'll call to her and teach her.

NH, You need to take it EASY!!!

SoS.......... BOTH my bators are shut down

My plan is to start them up March 6th. BUT.......... I will admit, I may be hatching some Turkey eggs for a friend. As I see it, it will not count since it's not for me.

Can't break a promise now can I !!!!

My hens have been doing a great job, we have been getting 30 plus eggs a day.

HT... poor CeCe, she is the oddball.
