I thought I saw you post you were going to try to get down to 100 birds?

It is running and eggs are in.

So I made it 27 day

you should keep the quail separate from chickens, quail are susceptible to poultry diseases and be wiped out much easier by cocci etc than chickens. I suggest just making sure your chickens can't poo into the quail cages, and are you going to keep the quail off the ground? to put a piece of plastic under the cages, or build a pull out tray to make cleaning much easier. a piece of cheap plastic can be taken down and washed off of poop and replaced every week, or tossed regularly. Quail poo ALOT...Of course you can just put sand under the cages and the chickens will go under them and root through for food bits and bugs attracted to the quail poo.

NAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa.. My DD reneged.

And besides this is a test run. And a couple of eggs for doublea.

so it does not count ! Some of the eggs have been sitting on my counter since 1/6. I haven't the heart to eat them and I wasn't incubating. So it is sort of an experiment.

And ML.......... I will be taking some of my birds to the auction Sunday and some to a local Swap on the 4th.

I kept my Quail in a hutch in the barn with my chickens. Quail for sure should be off the ground on wire. I used a small kitty litter box with sand for them to dust bathe, they loved it.

I've already got 34 eggs in my incubator...I'm about to get 24+ more from a friend...holy crap! I'm going to go nuts from all the babies that hatch...What was I thinking? LOL
