OOhh...and mine?? Remember I'm practically as big as a house, due to pop in 10 weeks if not earlier!! Gardening/planting with a big baby belly gets in the way, not to mention the strain on the back. Therefore, I should get priority!! Did I mention I bake goodies for anyone who comes over?? <looks around> Did I convince you yet??

Good Saturday Morning Everyone!! Hey Bhep - we are looking into pigs, so you can bring your kids over if/when we get them!! I will say they will NOT be as cute as Mary's or a pet either!!

But they kids could still "play" with them!! So...what all are you hatching/attempting to hatch?? DH is ALMOST convinced we need ducks...so I will have to let you know once he's fully there!! I have 3 dozen chicken eggs sitting in the fridge for a recipe or something, as all of a sudden DD refuses to eat them!! I blame our trip to Florida where I ordered her eggs and she refused to eat them there - she hasn't touched them since!!

Let me know if you want to try to hatch some mystery mutts!!

Dh plans to work outside ALL day today, let's hope the weather cooperates and the mush that is our yard cooperates. We did an ariel photo of our yard to better plan out what and where we are going to plant/fence/place things and came across one TINY (okay rather large) problem. Our Orchard is approximately 75-100 sq feet (based on the little scale that was provided with the ariel photo) and...well...out of our 9 trees, all but 3 are semi-dwarf (15-20 feet fully grown), 2 are standard (30-60 feet fully grown) and one is unknown. Now the dilemma is how to plant these trees, with the two sad almond trees that we already have in the orchard for we also have to be concerned with pollinators.

I can't believe we have to figure this out NOW as the trees arrive at the end of next month!! OOPS. So next month, anyone want to come over and transplant some trees??

On a chicken note...I have a chicken "slut"!! Jemimah is losing some of her back feathers from being "copulated" with so much...but here's the catch...anytime one of the roos (especially Jeremy) tries to "mate" with one of the other chickens, she chases them off, and then "presents" herself to him. Has anyone ever seen this or dealt with this before??
idunno.gif
Should I worry about her feathers or leave her be? I do need your expert advice!!

NAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa.. My DD reneged.

And besides this is a test run. And a couple of eggs for doublea.
lol.png
so it does not count ! Some of the eggs have been sitting on my counter since 1/6. I haven't the heart to eat them and I wasn't incubating. So it is sort of an experiment.

And ML.......... I will be taking some of my birds to the auction Sunday and some to a local Swap on the 4th.

HATCHING MATH?

Ok HATCHING MATH...........

I could not just set a measly 7 eggs, that is a waste of a tray.
lau.gif
Plus the experiment.... not much hope for eggs that have been on the counter for 20 days, so as not to disappoint anyone I had to set some fresh eggs. And of course not every egg will hatch. So yea hatching math.

NH........ anytime you want some eggs from your group hatched just say the word. And yes.... hen & roos pick favorites. I read a really good article last night about it. Another BYCer had it on her member page, I will get the link & post it here.. I certainly learned a few new things. You need to get/make your girl a saddle before the rooster cuts up her back.

Looks like it will be a beautiful day.... hope some of the nasty mud dries up. Will be out cleaning coops .... Yeep Eeeee !

Thanks for the links BHep - you're right, I can easily make one of these....however...um...HOW do they go on??
lau.gif
In one photo it looks like you put it over their wing, another photo it looks like it goes over their legs...so I am a little confused!! When I think of a saddle, I think of horses, so I am sure the "straps" do not go across the "girth" of the chicken, so

As for hatching eggs...I was just giving you the OPPORTUNITY to take some of my excess eggs off my hands and see what "mutts" you come up with...there's bound to be at least ONE BO in there, as the two prefer one another...LOL I think we have our hands FULL at the moment with potty training, tilling, getting the orchard ready, me wanting to pop...you know, all the fun stuff!!
