Are you going to Morganton?

It was about adding some more LF orps to the flock...either via chicks or eggs. We had emailed about a guy looking for blue cochin chicks...but my girl isnt laying right now either. I hope to come to Morganton, but not sure with work, and the goats (they are due that week) but I am planning to def go to Winston on the 31st. how are your goats doing?

Goats are good, hungry all the time!

They will be ready for homes very soon. Being that there are four they will be weaned a bit early. They are all growing great, bouncing off the walls.

Hi Kim! I am in Hampstead, just a bit down the road from you!! You are right, there are few in Jacksonville that are not military!! I am one of the few born and breed Wilmingtonians!! We are pretty new to chicken raising, got our first last September. Now we have 22. We have Jersey Giants, Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, Cochins, Buff Orphington, and a couple mystery chickens!! We have built 5 coops, three out of all repurposed pallets. One has a front porch with railing!! DH is so creative!! I had hoped to work outside today too, but so much for that!! I am working the next two days and hoping that Wed. is sunny and warm!! Fingers crossed!!

Hi Dlockey. Thank you for the welcome.

I am in the Jacksonville area but am not military. Which is the number one question asked around here. lol. I have 26 1 week old babies. 3 Anconas, 2 Silkies, 1 Black Australorp, 8 Red Stars, 4 Barred Rocks, and I think 8 Araucanas. Does that total 26? lol. Anyway, this is definitely a very exciting adventure for me and my family but we are really enjoying them so far. We also have a wonderful Rottweiler that loves the little chicks, well he loves all living things. A BIG baby for sure.

Sure wish it wasn't so yucky out. Hubby is building me a nice big coop and today he is off and it's suppose to rain all day.

Have a great day! Kim

Well now, I managed to get the WCA for the first time ever today. I didn't get there until 1:30-ish, so of course got to stand in the back. It was fascinating. I didn't bring home a thing, though. Since I got there so late, I didn't get to see anything prior to bidding beginning. But it was a definite learning experience. I'll be dragging hubby back next time. And be earlier. And maybe actually meet a few folk next time instead of standing there by myself like a wall-flower.
