Quick question for you...I have a chicken (don't know who) who has been burying eggs in the nesting box. Is this a sign that someone is going broody or just someone being nasty?? If they are just being nasty, how do I get them to stop? It's really hard to stoop down and sift the shavings with this ballooning belly!! LOL. I appreciate the help.

Grats on the turkey egg Hollow!! Sorry about the fireants. We have sugar ants (?) - black biting ants!! They attacked my DD once...then I tried to do anything I could to get rid of them...winter came and they hid on me!!

That is awesome, cannot wait to see pics. I am getting ready to set some NN/EE eggs, and some EE, Minorca/EE, Ancona/EE eggs as well. My new bator is built just waiting on temps to stabilize. Lowes didn't have the thermostat I wanted so I got one that works 2 elements... Don't like it so my FIL is going to bring me home the right one tomorrow from his work.

I don't know about everyone else but I am hatch crazy already. Luckily these are eggs coming from projects and I don't have many hens in those so 6-10 eggs set every weekend. Now I am asking myself " How long are you going to be doing this?" lol. But when those little fuzzies hatch you forget how stressful incubating can be. Chicken math never changes no matter how long you do this

Hatch crazy? Me? Don't think so, only got 47 eggs in my incubator!

Hatch crazy? I've got 48 assorted Orpington eggs going in one 'bator tomorrow, and a start on collecting turkey eggs for next weekend.

Oh, yeah...and 35 chicks due in early next week.....
