Could you get a picture of the chicks head and comb area? I'm thinking it may be a boy. The amount of red on it and the fact that it is developing slower are good indicators of being boys. If there is a comb already developing it would be a definate rooster sign. I know with my first set of EEs I knew which one was my rooster by the time they were 5 weeks old.

Just "popping" on to let everyone know I am still here!!

Its not the amount of red, you can have a solid red ee hen. Its the darkness of the red on the wings that make me think roo. But with that being said a neighbor has a white with dark red on the wings ee hen.

Jdeliveira I thinks it is a roo but it is slow feathering in so it might still get a tail.

RF you said what I was thinking of with the redness on the chick in question. I was thinking of where the red is too. I know there was a discussion about determining genders on EEs by color. I need to find it again it was a nice discussion and I learned a lot from it myself. If it makes you feel better Jdeliveira I had one of my EE chicks that looked like that around 5 weeks old and I suspected it was a rooster. It turned out to be a hen and the prettiest one of my EE group. I would definately like to see a good head shot though. You should be able to see a comb already forming if it is a boy. I was just looking at our 2 white EEs (they are 3 weeks old) and I am pretty sure one of them is going to be a roo because I already see a comb developing on it.

ETA: Here is the link for the thread I was talking about concerning gender determination on EEs. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/463817/easter-egger-sexing-tips-and-tricks-pictures-included
Hope it helps.

That is encouraging to see. I am working on my dogs and introducing them to the two we have now. They are only a week old so hopefully when they are bigger there won't be a problem. I have two yorkies and they want to attack. My cavalier king Charles spaniel I thought would be fine but one day she tried to snatch one. Today I had her outside with the chicken. I held her tightly and let the chickadee free range around her. Little scared but hoping forvthe best.

In truth I was really worried about her because she is still all puppy even though she is 110lbs. At first she chased them a bit , but after getting on to her a couple of times she chilled out and resigned herself to sniffing if they came near. I'm hoping to figure out how to train her or Odin to heard the chickens back in their coop once I'm done letting them free range for the day. We live near woods so I don't like to let them roam unless I'm outside with them. We have some HUGE hawks here.
