Here you go, they are called reborns. Most of the time collectors get a bad rap, and a lot of ppl just think they are creepy cause they look so real.
Well we just got back from the vet AGAIN! The chick was still just filling up in the crop with the feedings so he had me bring her in to drain. Boy did he drain.... so much that he found a mass at the bottom of the crop he did not find yesterday. The only option was to do crop surgery as it would not suction out, he pulled a quarter size ball of shavings out the her crop!!! I have never had one eat that much and not digest it, he says it's rare that they eat so much and not digest but it does happen. She is now wearing a crop support and has had another feeding from the vet to try and get some nourishment. This time things are tougher as she is just sooo weak that we are not sure she will pull thru.

BHep & others - DH and I are saying the same thing!! I have been doing EVERYTHING (aside from drinking castrol oil) I can think of to induce labor!! LOL. We blame my mother...had she NOT shown up...we would have already gone into labor...haha...JK

Mayberry - those are absolutely beautiful!! You sure do have such talent!! I hope your brace and medicine works so you can get back to making these beautiful dolls!!

HT - I am so sorry to hear about your little chickie!!

Praying she pulls through for you and all is well with her soon!!

Worked on getting a plan set up for our broody. We decided to repurpose the shed we had been using as a storage unit as a new pen. Now to figure out what to do for doors and the run. Soon we will have to make a decision...then again now it's a race to see who "hatches" first!! LOL

I'd help you if I could Mayberry!

Guess what, guess what!?!

Ever since we picked up our chickens on Saturday (8-10 week olds), we've gone out every night (about 8:30 - 9:00pm) and scooped the drowsy hens up to put them in the coop. Yesterday was the first day they came OUT of the coop on their own. TONIGHT we went out to put them up and...

THEY WERE ALREADY IN THE COOP! Little darlings were happy and dozing!

Newhomesteader- What's your guess date? I did evening primrose oil to help with my oldest, message me if you want the details. I hate waiting when you get to the last few weeks! My almost 6 month old surprised us after dinner one night. I started feeling "different" and two hours later she was here, no signs or symptoms before that. I walked into the hospital fully dialated, she was almost a home birth!

Thank you, I am thinking pain or not, I have to work. I have had several ppl tell me they still think it is carpal tunnel. I love when they learn that fast! I have noticed the 2 chicks I have left, about 8:30-9pm start peeping till I turn out the night light and the room lights so they can go to bed, LOL.

I got a GORGEOUS Barred Rock trio from a really great chicken-mama nearby. I have had them in their pen for over a week. I have been anxious to give them some time outside, but wanted to make sure they were acclimated and would know where to come home to. So, this afternoon, I let them out. The roo was SO proud to have his girls out and about. They were so cute, just running and jumping on every bug, blade of grass, flapping and dust bathing. Then, when it came time to go home for the evening, one of the hens just didn't want to go in. We laughed watching the roo go get her, try to get her to go toward the pen, then leave in frustration.....then come back and try again. Finally, the roo and one hen went to bed. The other hen found herself way down by the house....so I went out to get her penned up, and she just followed me up to the barn, right to the pen, and with only a few moments of "I'm still pecking around," she hopped up in there and went to bed. The rooster was SO relieved, I could hear it in his voice, clucking at her.

Man, I go out of town for one lousy day and I come back to 45 posts!

I'm sorry some of you have had a bad one, with vet visits and doctor visits. I'm also sorry that at least one of you has Not had a doctor visit!

I had to zip down to Georgia to visit my folks today. Left pre-dawn and got back about 20 minutes ago. Long day.
