North Carolina

Was out and about starting at 6:30AM this morning...managed to get a broody/quarantine coop built from recycled materials. It needs paint, but here is what it looks like:

Here it is with the door opened:

What do you all think? Will this work?? We aren't completely finished yet, as we are putting more HWC around the dog kennel to keep the biddies IN and predators out...but we are not planning on putting a cover on, so we might have to rethink our plan.

On a side note, no baby!! LOL

BHep - congrats on selling all that you did!!
Hollow - Congrats on your acquisition!!
ML - YAY for little bantam cochins hatching for you!!

If I don't see you all on tomorrow...Have a WONDERFUL & HAPPY EASTER!!

I am hoping to find some pullets around the age of my chicks (4-6 weeks old). A few weeks older or younger would be fine I think. I want brown egg layers (BA and RIR are what I have) I also want a couple of cochins (I do not care what color or age other than less than a year) LOL
I have lots of roosters but only 7 hens (maybe 8). We want 12 great egg layers and 2 or so cochins. Can anyone help me? I live in Fayetteville.

I'm sorry I missed you both! Hubby was pushing to leave, so I did. I don't know why I let him push, since we came in two vehicles and he was heading to the gun show. I think he was afraid I'd buy more. Heck, I had to talk him out of buying a BCM roo! I was the safe one!

Kmac, do you still have my phone number? Next time call me! I would have come back!

Hubby is starting alterations on the chicken house, plus beginning the conversion of the sheepshed....tomorrow! Yay!

I knew he had the chicken bug. It got renewed at the swap this morning!

Just had to share that DH and I moved momma broody into her new home! DH was so cute...talking to the hen and was telling her that we weren't trying to hurt her and such.

He's been BITTEN!! He keeps asking when she will hatch her biddies and I think it's SO cute!! We moved her into her new home (hehe...she pecked him HARD quite a bit) eggs, feathers and all. I hope she accepts her new home, as she did start "clucking" once she was "locked" up for the night.

Hoping she still sits and we didn't break her broodiness!!

Happy Easter everyone...hopefully we'll have a new "bunny" tomorrow...however, I am skeptical!!

Well sorry I missed you Hollow... I got there at about 10am and was on my way home by noon. Sold or swapped everything except a few dozen eggs.

I sold lots of chicks, some ducklings and 16 chickens.

There will be a auction in Sanford next Sat.... not sure of the address, you can find it on CL.
Then next Sat. another flock swap in Fayetteville on C St. @ Southern Gin & Grain.

I will be heading to both I think.

Southern Gin is going to do a flock swap?

They always seemed so proper to me, good people to do business with, but a bit uptight so to speak.

I think you might want to put a top on it, them biddes can jump/fly pertty good at a small size!
