Good Morning Everyone...not much going on here. Plan on planting and weeding and GIVING UP!! I have come to the conclusion that my "egg" is a dud and is never going to hatch!!

Maybe if I quit waiting, something will happen. For now...there is a garden that needs my attention and since today is the "official" due date, we'll see if/when/IF anything happens!! Have a great day all!!

Of course I went

They took all the comfy chairs out and put in some sucky, flimsy bleachers. Boards were popping loose under folk's feet... no cushion for achy butts... and we got leg cramps from short spacing between seating and foot boards. 3 people almost fell through the boards. I sure hope Cody re-thinks the bleacher situation. People were not happy.
It was a very short auction due to holiday... only 200 boxes and we were out of there by 4pm.

OooOOoo... Porcelain D'uccles!!!!

I'm not liking the sound of the bleachers at WCA. I would only be able to sit on the bottom, and that will depend on the height of them. I can't use my seat lift if there are no arms. I hope there's a little space to put a lawn chair, else I may have to drop off and come back later to cash out...won't get to bid on anything.

I don't like the idea of them either as I can't bend my
knee to sit in tight spaces.....
and I can't sit on hard surfaces for very long....bad hips

Maybe this new auction in Broadway will be as good
with time and have better seating.

Good idea!! I NEED to pick up feed & oyster shells, so I am thinking of doing that tomorrow after the doctor's apt...since we'll be in "town". Maybe all that running around will also help. After all, I HAVE to feed my chickens so it's not something I can skip!!

Here's hoping it works!! LOL

Would it be okay to use Carefresh bedding in our brooder? The pine shavings we have been using are becoming a problem. The chicks scratch around alot and the shavings get through the 1/4" hardware cloth we used. It leaves a mess on the floor and I cannot be constantly trying to vacuum it up.

My youngest son gets into it and plays with it too. Even my oldest sons get into it and it ends up spread over the house. I think the dust is starting to get to me too. Last time we had chicks this wasn't an issue because by this age they were able to be outside because they were the first chicks here. This time around we have to worry about integrating the chicks with the adults so we haven't put them outside yet. The youngest chicks are 2weeks old and the oldest are 4 weeks old. Our frizzle may be 5 weeks old already though. We have a brooder type setup in the current lot. Is it too early to transfer them outside? The chicks haven't been on a light for a week or so now. The house stays at least 70 degrees though and they have not acted like not having the light bothers them. DH has mentioned putting screen wire over the hardware cloth to help keep the shavings in but we haven't been to the store to get any yet. I need an alternative bedding solution taht won't be able to be thrown out through 1/4" hardware cloth. Anyone have ideas?

I've used Carefresh in the past for rats and guinea pigs, and it worked very well, however I would be a little concerned that the nature of the bedding might cause an impaction if the chicks eat it.
