:th    I am already sweating.  I do not like the heat.  :sick

x2 So happy to say that the HVAC guy will be coming by sometime today to look at our system and hopefully repair it without bleeding us dry!!

Chicken updates: Mamma and baby are officially in the coop with the rest of the flock. The best part...she chased both boys away from her as they were trying to "visit" with her and she was having NONE of it. :lau Just out of curiousity...when will she begin to lay again? Will I have to worry about that anytime soon? Maybe she'll go broody again for me and I can get a bunch of cool eggs from people and hatch fun stuff. LOL. On a side note...this baby appears to be part cochin as DH says it has "fluffy feet". It's interesting in color, as the wings are continuing to blacken and she/he is turning an interesting "yellow-ish" color. I LOVE BABIES!!

Now...off to lie by a fan and hopefully sweat off more baby weight!! :lau

$400 for a pair of chickens? Imported chocolate? If I did something like that, a hawk would get them, sure! Or some disease. Or something. I'll put that kind of money into something solid, like an incubator!

I'm heading to DC for the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival after I leave work today. I shoulda asked if anyone near I-95 has English Orps for sale, or perhaps BCM chicks. I'll pop a cage in the car, just in case. I'll be coming back down Sunday, and could load my car up!

Hubby is not going with me, so I'll have lots of room in the Element, and no nay-sayers.

I didn't get home in time yesterday to get pictures of the two mamas, but they are still sharing the babies.

Neither will take them out of the coop, though. I made sure there is food and water they can reach inside, and hubby has directions for while I'm gone. He's got to deal with a hatch, too. That'll be fun!

That's actually cheap, they were at $1500 a pair. Chocolates have come down a bit but not a ton. Jubilees are still expensive running anywhere between $500-$1500 a pair as well.

My chocolates are currently 8-9 weeks old now and ALL pullets!!!!

Hoping to have hatching eggs available later this year from my UK choc bantam orps.

Hey Beth- curious if any of the guineas started to hatch?
Guineas are hatching now...some out, some still waiting. I WILL NOT BE GOING TO THE FLOCK SWAP IN FAY. I will be home. You can come pick up here if you want. PM me for info. I will be working around the house. My BIL will be here running electric to my pool and servicing my lawnmower.

Just counted 8 out so far.
