Hahaha! We will see whether she unplugs or not... gotta check my egg collection... what shall we send to beth???

Duck eggs...you need to send Beth duck eggs...and perhaps turkey eggs...you know because I don't have any ducks or turkeys...and we need to enable her so she may enable others. LOL, Okay, that was all I could think of.

Oohh...EMU's - yes, she NEEDS EMU's!! Hmm...what other obscenely large birds can we come up with?!? LOL

Super excited!! DH is planning on building me a cheese press this weekend!!

Now I will be able to make some raw cheeses for my daughter and perhaps she will be able to indulge in her first ever "pizza" oohh...or ICE CREAM (which has nothing to do with cheese, but I was thinking of things one could make from dairy...lol). I am so excited as maybe this will help her to have some what of a more "normal" life! Thankfully my book: Nourishing Traditions has recipes for making raw cheeses!!
One more adjustment and we will also have the ducks area all set up too!! Things are moving along smoothly!!
A HUGE thank you to our neighbor who is chicken sitting for us while we are gone. He is such a nice man, I need to do something nice for him when we return...any ideas?!? We plan to keep the chickens cooped up - perhaps this will further discourage the hawk (plus we don't want any losses while we are gone) so not much for him to do there aside from water/feed!! I am baking him a HUGE batch of cookies as a thank you - yay for peppermint chocolate snaps (a thin mint copycat)!! Still, something more needs to be done. I've offered him eggs before, but he's always reluctant to take them, so now I need ideas. OOHH, perhaps a thing of fresh cheese, once I get the hang of it (don't want to send moldy cheese to him...unless it's blue cheese, but then...EWEEE). Yes, I definitely need ideas!!
What do you all think...we are planning on moving our broody on Monday to the "isolation" area so she can hatch her eggs (due to arrive next Thursday - well, that's day 21 at least) in peace while we are gone. She doesn't like to sit on her eggs when the others are locked up because they bother her!! Do you think it is wise to separate her - especially since we will be gone during her hatch?!? Oh boy...if any eggs do not hatch...

I do not envy coming home to THAT!! We will be home 2 days after the scheduled hatch...do you think she will be okay or for safety reasons, should I keep her with the others?!?

stays down. Hope noone got any damage from
the storms yesterday.

Not sure what to tackle first......the yard
or the house.......both need my attention.

What type of chicken lays pink eggs? I thought I saw someone had some a few pages back but cant find it....I got my first blue egg on Tuesday...SUPER EXCITED!!!

I think I have the car cleaned out from the trip, power was out for awhile yesterday evening. Got 2 broodies for sure, lost Peepers and Ditto (my 2 cross beaks) also lost 2 of Toms 3 babies and the last one is sick along with 2 of the pure rp babies. Lost 8 other birds while I was gone, and seen the bad chicken sitter driving yesterday

But in good news, I have 6 silkie babies and 2 frizzled babies, and some Peeper babies

So sorry for your losses and your horrible chicken sitter experience this is why I'm so glad I have competant family to care for my birds and other animals, I just couldn't trust anyone else after my own bad experience years ago.

I forgot to share with you what my husband said after WCA yesterday. I had called him to tell him I was coming home empty-handed.

Then I texted him to tell him I was bringing home two Wyandotte hens from Beth.

Then I called him on the way home to tell him that those hens had multiplied into an additional eight SL Wyandotte chicks.

I told him it was all Beth's fault.

And that she was cutting back, which is why I could get the hens from her.


And he laughed and said that if there is one thing he has learned, it's that chicken people never cut back. They just rearrange.

Ha! That's so funny..... Yep, I'm really good at rearranging!
