North Carolina

I've decided this weekend that my girl Mudpie (silkie) is going into the the "punishment pen". She has been sitting on invisible eggs for WEEKS! I kick her off several times a day, she eats/drinks/poops, then back to her corner.

I have a wire bottom dog crate that we're planning on elevating with food and water for a few days to see if that breaks her. I'm going nuts!!!

Chris (older son) ran in to tell me what he had found, and I tried to get it out with a stick, but it just kept striking at the stick.

My hubby will be in soon, so then it will probably be headless.

If anyone wants him speak up!

NH.....I am so sorry.......you really have to
decide what works best for your situation
but I admit, DH does NOT tolerate an
aggressive roo here and will not breed to
one.....they are always culled......there is
always another pretty roo needing a home
somewhere

Ill post in that section too but just wondered if anyone knew what color they are considered? They did come from a free-range flock of whites and pearls (not 100% positive on the pearls) and they may have had other colors too.

My hen Freckles decided to be evil when I brought them in but it just turns out she just forgot to lay her egg this morning like everyone else and decided to lay it at 6 in the evening... I think her internal alarm clock needs new batteries

how cute HT, did you end up with a chocolate roo for your hens?

NH sorry for you loss. He might not be bad tomorrow but this might be the start of something more to come also

good luck Audra on breaking her, has never worked for me, but I have never hung a bird either

Rookie hens lay their eggs at different times in the day, so don't worry

I'd like your snake Chasity, but I think you are far enough away that you'd have to catch it for me. From the sounds of things, that doesn't appear likely to happen!

I'd also cull an aggressive roo. While some attitude can be a good thing, any roo that flogs me for any reason is soup. The only exception to that was the little crele bantam roo, and he was an exception simply because he was caged. So while I might withhold judgement for the roo killing the subordinant roo if I didn't see what triggered it, he would not be forgiven for trying to spur ME! Especially if I had kids on the property. My 2 cents, anyway. Temperament is a huge deal around here.

Fed the sheep this evening instead of this morning, and although they picked up their heads and looked when I called, they went back to grazing. They sleep at the barn, though, so when they come in to sleep, they'll find supper waiting. Surprise, surprise! Got all the poultry feeders and waterers filled this evening, too. I'm getting there on this new schedule!

See ya tomorrow!

so I am actually breeding to my exhibition bantam black rooster to ensure the best type possible in the coming offspring. I will also be showing one or two of the pullets this fall and turning in those show records along with others who will be doing the same thing. All offspring from this cross, males-black splits & females-chocolate.
