Good morning folks

the weatherman is saying we could have
some not-so-nice storms today so take
care and be safe today

Absolutely NOT my fault. I have YET to do diapers...so for once it cannot be blamed on me!!

I am trying to make bread....not sure how well it's going to go since it is so humid out!! DH wants cookies (you know because he's already polished through the few I saved for him) so I may cook some up today (yay for fundraisers and having pre-made cookies in the fridge).

Fun Chicken/Guineas/Duck news: the ducks still think I am a horrid monster...and the guineas think of me as their personal play toy or something...they follow me around the minute I walk outside. It has been fun hearing them "alert" to things, rushing to the window to discover they are fighting over a lizard or a giant bug!!

DD#1 is STILL terrified of the chickens

so much so that she refuses to come off the deck to get into the car...she wants me to carry her! BAD PARENTING ALERT: I pulled an old trick (my mom did this to my brother)...I told her if she didn't come down off the deck, I was going to leave her!! (Side note: we live in the middle of nowhere so there was NO chance of her getting hit by a car or stolen, just so you don't think I am THAT terrible!!). Hopped in the car, put it in reverse (mind you this is the SECOND time I have done this to her)...surprisingly this time I was only able to back up a few feet before magically someone came down the steps...ALL THAT just to run to the grocery store...which mind you, I ended up forgetting HALF of what I absolutely needed!!
th.gif
MONDAYS!! Maybe in the future she will be more cooperative when it comes to walking to the car!!

Hope everyone has a great day and IF the storms do come your/our way that everyone is safe!!

Yes! I feel sorry for my dear sweet hubby. There were moments that.... well let us just say I was not so nice during pregnancy, particularly when I was hungry at the hospital and they would not let me eat. Pre-mature back labor, and hungry is not a good combo!

When the nurses came in to do blood work at an ungodly time of morning, I said some really ugly words along with turn out the @%#& lights!

I had a migraine; what can I say? I had to stay there for a week, and still delivered early (@ 7 months), and could only eat what they gave me because my sugar was up. A diabetic diet does not account for being up all night because of the giggling nurse station and Mag-sulfate-drip (cause of migraine).

Hopefully she will have a better time with it, Luke. To be sure she is stressed too.... not all bodies return to original state
barnie.gif
and that is very stressful. Try on a backpack loaded with 30 extra pounds on your front, and imagine going to pee every few minutes because the baby is playing hockey on your bladder, and don't forget the swollen feet, that also change with... and feet size after birth are changed. I have lots of pretty shoes and clothes after each child that I cannot wear.

She may have a great experience, but be a bit concerned with the changes and a little neurotic with worry about the changes even if she is happy with this, just like you. Remind her not just that you are happy to be a daddy, but that you love her too, because everything is about to become about the baby real soon, and the two of you will need to remember why you are with each other to handle life's little changes.

A foot rub or some pampering time periodically will go a long way.

Chas
So you are one of "those"! I am the person that comes in to draw blood at an ungodly time! I hate it when they put someone on MgSulf, it's always unpleasant for them and subsequently for us!
Good advise, please remember to tell her that you love her, because very soon that body that you have adored is going to become what she fears is hideous to you and it is really scary. I remember after our first was born, being so afraid that after all the disgusting 'stuff' that hubby had just seen he would not love me or want me anymore. All those hormones flooding through, I would say and think things that had no rational foundation and no matter what his response it was wrong. But that precious baby and the deeper level that your relationship reaches are so worth all the challenges!

Heavy rains finally made it here this morning. I have 3 chickens that will NOT go inside the sit under the overhang of the coop. One of my hens has been acting strangely, Troy says she is hormonal, Every evening she is refusing to go to roost, she wants on our porch! Her roo..Elvis stands in the yard and fusses at her while she tries to figure out where to jump up on the porch without alerting a dog. I think she is ready to start laying, she is about 20-24 weeks old (I think). We went to the Mountain State Fair last week and Troy saw some Lavender Orps and he said that is a pretty chicken! Then yesterday he went by TSC and got me some feed, and announced see what else I got? He bought a can of meal worms!!! He has given me a really hard time about 'my' chickens. He never wanted even one chicken, but he has been a good sport, but I think he may be winning over!
Hope every one has a good dry day!

Today is a really bad day for me. I found my "baby boy" (aka my cat Wesley...named after a boyfriend of mine who was tragically killed in a work accident almost 15 years ago) laying in the bathtub letting the water drip on him (yay for drips). He would never even go near a tub let alone in one!! I have known his health has been failing as of late, but to be honest, I just didn't want to accept it. I am having a hard time letting go and yet today, I called the vet in...I am asking her to make the decision for me. I do not want him suffering and at the same time, I do not want to let him go. Needless to say, I have been a basket-case ever since finding him. Thankfully both DD's are napping so I have a chance to compose myself before they wake. I have NO idea how to explain what is most likely going to happen to my very inquisitive child! I don't know when the vet will swing by...sometime this week I expect and oh boy, I am having a hard time just thinking about it. Rough week ahead!! Thanks everyone for letting me vent!! I know this is a chicken forum, but I also knew you all would understand how our pets can be like family!!

I started a new job 2 weeks ago and have not been able to get on much since...wow have I missed a lot! Too many pages to go back and read. Hope your all doing well and enjoying the cooler weather. Its starting to get darker earlier now, hard to believe Halloween costumes and pumpkins are already on every corner. This years going by so fast!

I have a SIlkie hen (approx 2 yrs old) who started holding her eye shut yesterday. I couldn't find anything wrong with it so I left it alone, now she has goopy junk all over her eye and its starting to look sorta crusty. What could it be and what do I do about it?
