Good Morning, Everyone!

Well, after Reilly's news about having entropion and needing eye surgery, now we're working on Jake's issues. Still waiting on labs to come back, but while Doc is trying to sort out what causing the anxiety episodes, she found a problem in his right stifle. Looks like arthritis developing...which will write the end to his working. For now, I will still take him to work with me, and knit night, and other places with little work for him, but I won't ask him to do any more packing for me, or work when there are lots of stairs that he has to brace me on. I'll just have to get my shoulders back in shape for my fore arm crutches. %^*&^$%^$%#$%#!!!!!!!!!!! I considered just not working him at all and therefore totally giving up the freedom he's given me, but that would break his heart. He gets really upset each time I leave the house without him. So I'll compromise between his mental health and his physical health. Poor guy. And poor me, too. I will selfishly admit that I hate this just as much for my own sake as for his. And I don't think that I'm up for getting another puppy to train for mobility assistance. Four of these beasts is likely too many of them for us to handle.

Today is October 20. Turkey testing is October 24. My hubby leaves on a trip on the 23rd, so we'll pen all the turkeys up before he goes. Even penned, the only turkey I can catch up is Bob. The rest are far too strong for me to hold on to. That inspector is going to have to catch up the other two birds he'll want to test all by himself!

Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone!

Hi everyone,
Another cool morning in Franklin, A possum kept me up half the night turning over buckets etc under my back garage. If my hb had been here he would be a dead one. Sigh! I'll be glad when he gets back. I have an eye that crosses and makes it hard to shoot at a target with my pistol unless its really, really close.
I gave away my roo and everyone seems to be adjusting fine. I am getting a few more eggs but I am sure its just the timing for my pullets to have started to lay.
Hate to hear of every ones problems . So busy too. Take a minute to enjoy the fall, winter will be here before we know it. Gloria Jean

Happy Saturday morning everyone!! I hope everyone is enjoying the fabulous weather we've been having. Plan on doing a good raking of the coop today and letting DD1 run run run run until she gets tuckered out and having DD2 out in the playpen while we work. Maybe all the fresh air will convince her that daytime is for playing and nighttime is for sleeping!! I think I slept a total of 2 hours last night, so for those of you with insomnia...man do I feel for you! Still waiting for Duke or UNC to contact us with an appointment for the specialist...no telling how long THAT will be. GRR!!

I have 2 new additions to the flock (and they are most definitely females

) DD1 named the Frizzle "Frizzy" and so I think the sister should be named Izzy...or something like that, right? LOL. I am overrun with roosters, but I am looking forward to November when we will sit down (or stand up I should say) and have a mass processing party!! I know that at least 7 of my 15 roosters are going into the freezer and perhaps even a few of the non-laying older birds...we'll just have to see. With the price of feed up to almost $33/bag for us (organic soy free) I can't afford to feed the non-layers...especially through a cold winter (which is what we're being told we're in for). Anyone else wondering if the early molts and the early ceasing of laying is their way of telling us we have a nasty winter coming?? Farmer's Almanec says that we should have snow by Halloween...which is just around the corner...although I find it hard to fathom when just yesterday it was 80!!

I can't complain. It's currently 30 ish degrees where my DH is from and in the low 40's where I am from...so this weather is LOVELY!!
Since I was up so early...made Pancakes & bacon for breakfast....have my bread rising to bake later and even managed to have supper prepped, dinner for tomorrow prepped, some baby food prepped up - just needs to be cooked and placed in jars. Lol...I am ready for bed!! LOL

Have a great day everyone!!
