The love of a mother is never-ending...even a chicken mommy. One cockerel was barely walking yesterday. I isolated him and started him on antibiotics. Today, after Saris suggested, I looked him over for lice and mites. He was packed with lice (not something I'm happy to admit, but I'm new also...). I have him a lice bath and gave him Nutridrench. Normally this breed is very flighty and not fond of people or dogs. (Dorkings).
After a few hours, he's definitely doing better.
The next step: his previous coop mates... Also very flighty, and not showing signs of sickness... I knew bathing them would be fun... I was right. I'm not sure who got more soaked, Little Red or me.

Next is Eekey, red Dorking/silkie mix. Much nicer and ok being handled.

Anyone here know of anyone breeding parakeets in the area? May "possibly" be getting a few a couple months down the road. but would like to find a breeder with some diff colors than petco. But have had no luck in my search. So figured i would check here i know its not chickens... But thought i would check anyway

Always worth a shot. I use to have a parakeet from a breeder in airway heights, or that direction. He was part of a self made petting zoo. Mostly farm animals. I don't remember any other details though. Sorry good luck!

I have experience in lice baths...not fun. Twice I dealt with it in the past when I took birds in. Now I always look before I take a bird in and I'm also am reluctant to take birds in because of it

My first hatch is finally hatching. I didn't think that I would get any because the hatcher cabinet went wonky on Saturday and also they are at 22 days. I have three cuckoo marans so far.
