I didn't choose the chicken life -- the chicken life chose me!
No, really. We've never raised chickens before but were asked to "foster" four chicks until they were big enough to join an existing flock currently living at a community garden. A series of events ended with no Garden Director and no one to care for the chickens! Of course by that time we were completely in love with our four foster babies (who knew chickens had such distinct personalities?!). We live in the suburbs of NW OH but our city allow the keeping of chickens so we're now converting our wooden play set into a coop/run combo (lots of pics at another time!) -- and learning as we go!
Our flock: approx. 10 weeks old
2 Lavender Orpingtons - Iris and Violet
1 Silkie - Chad (don't be fooled, she's a hen)
1 Easter Egger - Gem
-Susan
