Our winter has just been STRANGE.... warm and rain and ice, then plummeting cold with hardly any snow, then warms up, then gets cold... too many extremes I think.

Our weather has not been normal at all this year, but then, we've only had 1 "normal" year in the past 10. This year it was a long, warm fall and then a number of *extreme* cold periods (we hit -57 below last week) and have also had a very low snow pack. The open ground combined with the cold temps has caused our (deeply buried) natural spring water system to freeze completely. It is getting very old hauling water by snowmobile to our very remote homestead!
