Nosy neighbors

I have a neighboring house that's closer than we like, so we did the livestock panels with greenery. The fence was just a four foot wire field fence when we moved in. We mounded the area right between the houses with dirt, set the panels on that so they're about 6ish feet high, and planted climbing roses and honeysuckle. Now my view is pretty flowers and hummingbirds, not the neighbor's house. Love it.

Just be careful the neighbour does not start to complain about the new fence lol.

We have a dog 'hoarder' living next to me. She started 'rescuing' dogs - and from just 2 she now has about 12 big dogs. They are never walked and spend their lives either locked away in cages or in her small yard. Every time we went into our garden the dogs went crazy all barking and they would not stop - even if I stayed out there over an hour.

So I told her we were going to plant a hedge and some bushes so the dogs could not see us. She went crazy and was running up and down the street waving her arms about and crying and shouting that we wanted to kill her dogs?! Now I am a quite a quite and shy person and I in no way was nasty to her, or said anything about hating her dogs.

We planted the plants and they grew well and looked very nice. After a few months they were just over 6 feet tall, and many had flowers. The dogs could no longer see us and they barked a lot less.

Then one day I cam back from work to find the woman and her husband had cut down all my plants!!! I went to their house and she went mad again - saying we hated her and she was sorry she ever moved to this country. She has got some idea we are going to poison the dogs and she says if anything happens to them she will burn out house down with us in it!!!!! All the other neighbours came out to see all the activity. She said we were blocking out all the light form her garden and house and her garden was dying because of our tall plants. (even though its the dogs peeing and pooping on her garden that is killing it).

Anyway its gone back to normal now. The dogs going crazy when they see us moving in the house. I really hate this couple and want to move house asap. We had people view our property, but they are put off by the barking dogs and the bad smell coming form her yard.

I have decided to get someone to come and build a proper concrete wall about 6 foot high. I am in Thailand and there are not laws about noisy dogs or animal police to report this to. My only option is to move.

Wow!! It's too bad moving is not an option. It sounds like this woman has serious mental health issues and is possibly dangerous to boot. In her twisted mind, harming you or your property might be justified to "protect" herself. I have no idea what the laws in Thailand are, but if I were you, I would keep a detailed log of any threats she makes and any interactions you have with her at all.

I put a fence up and have been adding lots of shrubs and trees. My corkscrew willow and black bamboo are starting to fill in well. I bought a mischantus(sp)),and hope it grows well.I have corns that grow 10 to 15 feet to fill in bare spots. Worse is trying to block a second story window.To bad forest bamboo will not grow in my state.

You can try to educate people or ignore them. I would probably ignore those who threaten to report me.What was your neighbors reason for telling you her friend wants to report you? To warn you,put fear in you,or simply to pass along the threat? to bad stinging nettle does not grow to fence height.Annoying that people think it is ok to look over a fence into the neighbors yard.

Maybe educate THEN ignore!

I wondered the same. Why say that to us? I think it was all out of ignorance. We are trying to move to a more rural are so hopefully we won't have this problem anymore. But we will just be avoiding the neighbor as best we can until then. Bamboo is a great idea!

Ugh, we have one nieghbor a couple doors down like that..I sympathize being the only one in the neighborhood w/ chickens. Someone a couple streets over def. had birds a few years back, but we didn't know who or were able to contact them/make friends...
Anyway so this neighbor is the only one who causes trouble...she called the twp. becasue our other neighbor didn't post her fencing permit (which she had), has reported our car as "not registered" when t was legal, and basically has the code enforcement guy driving down our road every couple weeks. I too am saving to install privacy fencing. Everyone around us has multiple, very loud dogs, and as of now, we have one noisy, newly adopted hen living with the others. We are hoping egg bribes will counteract problems, but then, do we even reveal ourselves as the ones who own the birds???
Such a conundrum. Why can't people just mind their own business?!? We aren't hurting anyone!
This is what happens when bored, lonely people have no jobs. They make NO friends!
