Not a broody hen

Will a hen that is not broody accept chicks? I have a silkie that adopted 5 hens last spring and raised them beautifully. I got 2 chicks today. She’s not currently broody. I was wondering if she might take them even though she isn’t broody.

Probably not. She'll either peck at them or ignore them.

She’s let them go under her, but she isn’t sitting on them. I brought her into the brooder with them as none of my hens are broody at the moment It’s been just over an hour since I introduced them. She seems to just be tolerating them at the moment.
