So... Over a year ago I bought two chicks from a local vet supply store to be the flag ship for my upcoming flock. I was told by the sales person they were Rhode Island Reds. After seeing a RIR up close a few weeks latter, I decided that they were very much NOT RIR. After many website searches I decided they must be Buff Orpingtons. This year I got a few additional "Buff Orpingtons" and can't help but notice these orignal two don't have the same coloring as these new BO. So I am asking for a helpfully suggestion from my fellow members of BYC.
Note: These are the sweetest chickens you could hope for. Even at year plus these girls are easy to handle, never pick on the other chickens, and you can always find them sitting together whenever you go and look at the flock. Don't know if that may help determine their breed.
Please notice the darker necks, light bodies, and black tipped tail feathers. Their legs seem to be light colored, but not the near white I'm seeing in the new BO.
Any help would be great.
