This peep came from Family Farm and Home and was in a bin with black Jersey Giants, red stars, silver laced wyandottes, and (supposedly) white Jersey Giants. We picked a black JG, and this one (I think it's a cockeral), thinking it was a white JG. It's obviously not what we thought, due to the feathered legs, and now the brown and black bars coming on the wings. Any ideas? The comb is single.

I'm no help but I wanted to say that you've got a cutie! Best wishes with your little ones

Thank you! I might also add that this chick was supposed to be a pullet, but I'm really not thinking it is. :gig

How old is it? I can't tell by the pictures but does it have pink in the comb already? One of my high egg production pullets grew a pink comb very early on and I was convinced that she was a cockerel but she fooled me. She lays very well. She also had big feet. Wishing you all the best.

It's about 2 weeks old, I'd say. The comb is more yellow than pink, but there is a bit of pink, if that makes sense. :)

We thought Brahma at first, too, but the comb isn't right for a Brahma. :idunno

Are there any Marans that are this color? :idunno
