I would love your input...I am getting new 4 week old chicks...they will be vaccinated against mareks, cocci, newcastle/bronchitis, and I will administer AE/Pox...what about coryza or mycoplasma? I know it sure does seem cost prohibitive seeing as you cannot reliably divide up the doses and save it for later...but I wonder if it is something I should do...

I do not plan on bringing in any chickens that are not vaccinated, but I live in the woods-11 acres, surrounded by more...the amount of birds we have is crazy-we have occasional wild turkey, and all the small birds-keeping my girls separate from the birds is just not feasible-I see them pecking along side doves and cardinals and robins all day! :/

What do you think? Should I do these vaccines or is my risk too small? OR is having all these birds all around a big risk?

Thanks!

I have never vaccinated for anything but Mareks, and my chickens live and free range next to the woods with wild birds everywhere. We haven't had any problems. The down side to vaccinating is that you will have to repeat vaccinations yearly or more often, and you have to get the right vaccines for the strains in your area. I would speak with your state vet about what they are seeing, and do some reading about pros and cons of vaccinating. Read the links below:
