I thought my roo Tyson had bumblefoot because he is displaying all the symptoms but when I looked at his feet up close there is nothing there. No scab or red spot or ANY spot yet he won't stand and is just laying on the ground. He doesn't appear sickly as far as his comb and wattle look healthy and his eyes are bright. He just won't/can't stand. Any ideas what might be wrong? Please help! My boy is not acting right

Can you post a picture or two of him?

Are his feet swollen at all or his legs?
How old is he?
Have you brought any new birds in recently?

He's like 6 months old and no new chickens. That have been a flock since day one. No swelling on legs or feet no lumps bumps or contusions. I will try to post a picture if I can manage to hold him and take one at the same time

I set the water by him and some pellets but hasn't seen him actually eating out drinking. It's like he can't stand without toppling over

The Great Big Giant Marek's Disease FAQ

  • Paralysis of one or both legs, and sometimes wings. This can include staggering, increasing loss of motor control in one or both legs, inability to stand or balance. This may present sometimes as one leg forward and one leg back (“the splits”) or simple paralysis of the legs. This is caused by lesions to the sciatic nerve, that controls the legs movement.
  • Going off of food or inability to “connect” with food when trying to eat. Sometimes mistaken for a sour crop or other crop problems, lesions on the vagus nerve can cause dilation of the crop and/or proventriculus. The inner lining of the gizzard may also be effected.
