Not Doms but BRs

OK, OK I know how stupid this is going to sound but I have to confess, for the last 8 months I thought I had 3 RIRs, 3 Buff Orps and 3 Doms. Well, yesterday after going to pick up my gorgeous Barred Rock roo, Gabriel, from Speckled Hen I realized the Doms are BRS! The feed store where we got the girls (Ideal chicks) said "Doms" and I didn't think any different. I know Doms have rose combs but - being a complete novice - I thought "rose" referred to the color of the comb not the shape. So I keep looking at my girls as they get older, thinking their combs all look the same color and that my Doms are really healthy and have very dark combs. Duh. So my sinature line is changed and the best news is, if one of my BR girls goes broody after being with Gage for awhile I'll have pure bred BR chicks. NO, no, no I will not get an incubator. He, he, dh is away and won't be back for 2 weeks. How long do you think it will take before he discovers there is a roo in quarantine in the basement?

The feed store probably said "doms" because a lot of people mistakenly call barred rocks "dominickers". It's a regional thing.

Buster, it doesn't matter since I'm very happy with all of my girls. Just felt so silly not knowing the difference. By the way, my Dobes are not "just" dogs

I was told by the hatchery that I was buying five b.r. but it turns out I had one dom. I love her to death. She is so gentle and tame.

So, Barb, did Gabe crow his head off all night, LOL? That's awesome that you can have pure chicks. They do that to me every time someone sees Hawkeye, they look my way and ask, "Dominicker?" I have to enlighten them "No, Barred Rock, different breed" , but they act like I'm speaking a foreign language, LOL.
