In the 1950s, my grandparents had a hen lay a few Double Eggs! This consisted of one overly LARGE egg with a near normal sized egg, inside. Both eggs were fully complete with each egg having its own shell, yolk, etc.. My grandfather ‘blew out’ the eggs so they could keep the dry egg shells intact. They held the Iowa record for ’the largest egg’ for awhile, and were in the local newspaper.
One of these ‘double-eggs‘ are now in my care, still wrapped in cotton. I keep the eggs and newspaper clippings about them, in a very safe place in my home. But I think I would like to donate them to a museum of some type, with the understanding that my Grandparents name go with it. - Are eggs like this uncommon enough that a ‘chicken museum’ might be interested? Otherwise, when I die, my kids can decide who gets them.
