I have an honest question about culling chickens. We want to do multiple birds in a day (not 300 like some or even 100, just 6), but I don't have that much room in my refrigerator for all of them to rest 2-3 days. We've done this before but only two at a time. Can anyone give me some advice? I don't see what people do with them all when they do 50, 100, and some 300 in a day. Who has a fridge THAT big? Thanks in advance for any help as we are beginning to cull our meat birds this week.

For six, I would just chill them in ice in a cooler for 24 hours.

When my wife and I first started raising chickens, we bought a used refrigerator and used that for our batches of 25 or 30 at a time. Now we raise 65 at a time and 40 turkeys every year and we air chill them in a three bay drink cooler that we bought from a local restaurant that closed. You gotta be willing to invest in some equipment if you want to raise big batches of birds. :)

Have any friends or family that has room in their refrigerators? Just be careful, you may not get all your chickens back once they find out how good they taste.

There is no rule that says you must do all 6 at the same time. You can do 3 a weekend or what ever is comfortable. You could even do 1 a week and eat it, never frozen.

Im slowly working my way up to bigger numbers. Last year i did two sets of three. This year i did one set of six, four turkeys And one set of nine. They get so big Ann's it gets so hot here i like to do at least two if not three at a time. The turkeys are what really make me nervous they're so much bigger. Does anyone know if you can use a chicken plucker for turkeys?

Depends on the plucker. I have a yardbird. I pluck heritage turkeys that dress out 10 to 17 lbs. Have to pull the long tail and wing feathers, cut off the feet and neck on the biggest
