Ok.. Here's the problem.. I go into lockdown in 5 days and a few odd hours.. I currently have two 18 ct cartons with the bottoms cut out so that I can push or pull it to "turn" them.. I have 31 eggs that looked great at 7 days and I occasionally spot check one or two eggs and so far so good... There is only about 2 1/2 inches of room on the long end of the cartons and about 1/8" on the sides.. I am trying to decide if I will have enough room in the bator to hatch in the carton or if I should lay them on their sides.. Will it be dangerous for them if I use the cartons?

24 eggs is the max to hatch out in cartons. i tried two 18 count cartons and the chicks were getting stuck between them. lost three.

That's what I was afraid of... As much as I would like to have the cartons there to catch most of the mess, i don't want to lose any if i can help it... Thanks!
