So i have a very nice lady that bought two pairs of Ring Teal off me and i ship them off last Monday morning, early so they would make the first truck out to the airport. They were due at her P.O no latter than Wednesday at 3 PM, i figure thats fine with the cool weather. I check the tracking number on Tuesday and it says they are still in CA, so i start to get nervous but figured that maybe the current info wasnt updated yet. I check on Wednesday and the info is the same, so i e-mail the lady to see if has heard anything.......she replied nothing yet. At this point i am getting furious. I check the tracking number and the same info shows up on the screen, they are still in CA. Thursday comes and i call the lady up to see if she has heard anything..................nothing yet. Its day four and i know thats not a good thing. She calls me Thursday afternoon and said the birds arrived, but three of them were dead and one wasnt doing very good (it died 10 minutes after our phone call). My heart dropped. I felt bad for the birds and i felt bad for my customer. I instantly called the lady in charge of getting the O.K to ship the live birds and she is not happy how my local P.O handled things, it was because of them that these birds arrived a day later. I brought the birds in at 8:30 AM and they should have been on the truck out to the airport no later than 10 AM, instead they sat in that P.O until that afternoon, then were hauled out to the hub where they sat for another day since the flight out was not available because the one they were suppose to be on had departed already.

The idiot workers at my local P.O are going to be reprimended and i was promised this will not happen again. I am not so sure of that, since the new workers at my P.O have the WORST customer service skills, and i have heard this from a lot of friends who deal with them as well.

A claim will be filed this week as well as the heavy hand on my local P.O.

Sorry, i had to vent my frustrations..........................Jason

How upsetting for both you and your customer. How awful for those poor ducks. I'd be absolutely furious at the P.O. as well. I hope they realize what they've done and something like that won't happen again

How old were the ducks?

Man that FARKIN SUX!
I have a brother in law AND a sis in law that both work for USPS and they have told me MANY MANY stories about how stuff is handled by fellow workers. Not them of course;)
I would never send anything delicate, live or of any real value by USPS. Fed-Ex is supposed to be the best i hear from them. I have had many things shipped to me via USPS with no issues thus far but still ya never know.
Hope they come thru with the claim.

Ooh, I could tell you some horror stories.... dead SQ Buff Silkies, dead call ducks, rotten eggs (12 days in transit, another batch 6 days), smashed eggs I paid $80 for, lost eggs that never arrived (didn't anyone smell them?), lost checks (bill payments, 12 in 3 months), lost letters, lost gift cards I was supposed to get, shall I go on? These poultry items are all things I ordered and paid a LOT of money for. No refunds, no apologies, nothing. Believe me, they will NOT get reprimanded. The Postmaster doesn't care. The only hope for us victims is to petition Kratovil (House of Representatives) or Obama himself. We need to all band together and get a petition going. It should list all these things and more.

Oh gosh, that's so sad and terrible! I'm sorry for you and your customer. Poor ducks--such a terrible end for them.

This makes me nervous, I'm having a pair of call ducks shipped to me on Tuesday... They'd better arrive safely or I'm going to cry.

FedEx will not accept Lives unless very speciall arrangements are made $$$$. BTW the post office you are dealing with may well refuse to accept your future shipments and insist you take them to the airport yourself, it is up to the local postmaster.

I have some Call ducks for sale and I've had several inquiries about shipping them. I'm just not comfortable with it. I've heard too many horror stories just like this one. I'll sell them locally or I'll keep them.

It's the same way with purchasing them.

For a very long time in purchasing parrots, I refused to have parrots shipped to me. It was only over the last several years that I finally had decided to. Thankfully I had positive experiences with the airlines.
