Not large Eggs

How long does it take for a hen to get out of their small egg laying stage? I have barred rocks who have been laying for a month now but only medium sized eggs. Any advice?

It took most of mine a few months....a few of them laid larger eggs a few weeks after starting.

I don’t remember my chickens ever laying small eggs. I’ve had them for a while so I might of forgotten. Lol

Right, my Buff Orpington and my Speckled Sussex always laid smallish eggs. But the OP has barred rocks, and my BR very soon began laying very large eggs. She lays less eggs than the SS, ( 4 a week vs 5-6 a week) but I think their greater size = more egg per week for the BR. I no longer have the Orpington.
