Ever since winter, Daisy hasn't been laying eggs like she used too. Last summer she laid one egg a day. She hasn't laid a good egg in over 3 months. Last week she laid 3 eggs at one time and not in her nest or even close and they were all broken and hasn't laid since. When she laid those 3 she was acting odd and almost like she was depressed. She is acting herself again, eating and drinking normal and looks and acts healthy. My concern with her not laying, is there something going on I can't see? Will it hurt her if she doesn't lay?

In addition to the concerns that Buck Oakes rightly points out, it could simply be that she is shutting down for a while, will molt, rest, and then begin again.

A fecal test can be less expensive than an exam . . . . but a good duck vet, when possible, is best. Also, be careful feeling around for an egg . . . and some time in lukewarm water deep enough to float in can help move any stuck eggs along.

Thanks! There is a vet that will look at ducks in town, but he doesn't specialize in them, he said he can do bumble foot and stuff like that. Yes Buck there is one about an hour away. That's who my vet told me to see if I have any issues. I'm just afraid to take her that far, she gets real nervous at times especially when she can't see Pecker (drake). I worry what the stress would do to her. Maybe checking for eggs and trying the lukewarm water will help. I'm hoping she's just taking the break!
