My chickens are 3 and 5 years old. They are not molting, are eating well and appear very healthy. I don’t see parasites. We are having a warm and very sunny winter but I have seen no eggs for 2 months. Prior winters production slowed down considerably but everyone laid at least one egg per week. Any thoughts?

Mine are 3 and 4 and they always torture me all winter! Well I even have mature pullets and they aren’t laying either. It’s considered normal I hear. Drives me nuts!

Be patient, some hens don't resume laying after the winter break until late February or March. It's not whether it's been warm and sunny, it's the length of the daylight hours that triggers the hormones that cause hens to resume laying. Of my hens over 1 years old, only 2 of 12 have resumed laying thus far, and they just started this week. I expect to be rolling in eggs in another couple of weeks.
