I bought a White Silkie hen and she was laying or at least the owner thought she was. (she was in with other birds) So I brought her to my house and she has been at my house for about 2-3 weeks and she has not yet layed an egg. What should I do?

I heard if you feed them extra protein such as scrambled eggs it will help them to start laying? Yes no?

How old is she - if you know? Maybe she was not laying?

Sometimes the whole rehoming issue causes delay and only time will fix it.

Make sure she is not stressed, is eating well and has a nice nest box (might put a marked egg in the nest so she knows it is safe to lay - marked so you know it is a dud).

Scrambled eggs never hurt

Egg is the first food that a chicken eats when it is hatched into the world. It's the perfect food for them.

Doesn't it seem counterintuitive to anyone else that when you only get a few of the most treasured item (the eggs), you have to beat them all up and feed them back to the chickers to eat? They were supposed to be laying the eggs in the first place, that's why we got chickens. Not to eat the eggs.
If I feed all my eggs to my chickens in order to make them feel better so they start laying, I don't have any eggs to sale.
Won't the whole laying eggs problems take care of itself and I could still keep the few eggs I was able to get?
