New here. Just bought 4 hens &1 rooster...black australops. Was told they were 8 weeks old. Two weeks - one egg. They have quality coop, roost, and nests. Laying pellets, scratch. What to do?
x2 Chickens hate change and new environment will often cause them to stop laying until they are settled. It is also the season for molting and with less light they tend to lay less anyway.
I have 3 hens all 7 months old. Good egg production from leghorn & NH red but Easter Egger has not layed for 7 days. No evidence of molting. Poop in morning seems less after roosting all night. Seems to be fine. Any advice out there?
I would start by checking for mites or worms. Make sure she is getting enough protein and calcium and check for any hidden nests. Also make sure she isn't egg bound.
