because they're "horrible citrus"... Either way.

Don't worry lauriruth. The chances of your chickens eating them are slim to none, and even then it's doubtful that one, or two.. Will even hurt them "much".. The only thing that has been found that citrus can do is take away calcium-weaker egg shells.. Other then that, nothing i have found.

People often over-react the citrus thing i think, and 98% of them just say "don't feed citrus" "i don't know why, but it's said not to".. Who says not to but never gives reasons?

And it had to come from the person who originally figured it out..

My chickens hang out all day under an orange tree. One even roosts in it.
We had lemon trees, too, and they never bothered the chickens.

The oleander is a very nasty plant. If you have cows, horses, sheep, or anything that enjoys eating leaves, pull them up.
If you have kids, teach them to stay far away, or pull them up. I got a speck of it in my eye when I was about 10. I wanted to die.

I assumed that was the reason. Many of the plants included on that list don't belong because I have seen chickens eat them w/o harm for as long as I have kept chickens [a long time]. Some are weeds I pull from my garden & toss in the chicken run-they dis appear in minutes. The notion that chickens can't eat citrus is nonsence. Many people who ship birds put citrus halves in the boxes so the birds have nourishment & moisture.
I donlt know what Oleander is. guess it doesn't grow around here, but I'm certain Loquats & Lemons won't harm your chickens.

Oleander is a poison bush basically, it's poisonous to everything.. Can use wikipedia for it if you really want to know. Don't have it hear either..

I have to agree with NYREDS.
Lets put it this way if citrus is so bad for chickens why do companies put citric acid in Electrolytes?
Citric acid is the second ingredient in the Electrolyte I use on all my animals. (AgriLabs)

Citric acid
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
Citric acid is a weak organic acid, and it is a natural preservative and is also used to add an acidic, or sour, taste to foods and soft drinks. In biochemistry, it is important as an intermediate in the citric acid cycle and therefore occurs in the metabolism of virtually all living things. It can also be used as an environmentally benign cleaning agent.

Citric acid exists in greater than trace amounts in a variety of fruits and vegetables, most notably citrus fruits. Lemons and limes have particularly high concentrations of the acid; it can constitute as much as 8% of the dry weight of these fruits (1.44 and 1.38 grams per ounce of the juices, respectively[3]). The concentrations of citric acid in citrus fruits range from .005 mol/L for oranges and grapefruits to .030 mol/L in lemons and limes. These values vary depending on the circumstances in which the fruit was grown.
