Not much copper on this marans roo

This is BIg Boy, our 6 month old roo. He hatch from a batch of eggs from a blue/black/splash pen of marans from a BYCer.

We sold the other cockerels from this hatch before they had much color, and the two pullets we got look normal.

Will he get more copper as he ages, or do some copper marans just not get that colorful?

We're using him to breed Olivers, so the color isn't as important as his conformation, temperament, and dark egg genes. I'm just curious...

Usually at 6 mos the coloring is pretty mature. You could wait a year to make sure. My mottled cochins got their mottled feathers at 7 months. It was mostly patchy black and white feathers until then. I dont know if its the same for coppering.
