Not my best of days, but we got a puppy....

seeing she has had a rough start with lack of food.. Test her for food aggression NOW.. every day touch her food dish as she eats.

We got a Golden Retriever last summer that was starved. It was 13 weeks old and I didn't think to try to touch her food for 2 weeks after we got her. I was more concerned with getting weight on her. Turns out she had a food aggression issue and once she reached 1 year old, and bit my DH.. she was out of here.

We did work with her, yes... every day! She never recovered.
She felt she needed to protect her food, afraid she would not get enough.

She's adorable. I wouldn't have been able to say no either. It really is a crime that so many people think of animals as disposable items. Good for you for opening up your heart and home.

Hope she's feeling better soon.

you have more patience than me my friend.... that girl would have walked away a very lucky woman, if she would have walked away at all. I would have read her the riot act up one side and down the other....

Thank you for caring for the puppy!

Oh trust me! I wanted to! I would have buy my instincts were saying I wouldn't have Casey right now if I had. Then who knows what would have happened to her??

I wasn't sure where to put her last night so I got out a large tote box, long one, put her a bed at one end, food and water at the other and a piddle pad. She slept Ok. Only woke up twice, and I had 3 accidents to clean up out of her box.

Now you ALL know there is No such thing as a free puppy! You stopped at TSC on the way home-not free! You have 3 rounds of shots AND a rabies vaccine and it sounds like you want to get some Nemex 2 into her today also. So there is no such thing as a free puppy! Oh yeah, you can $pay her much younger than you'd think too.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE PUPPY>

EDITED TO SAY CONGRATULATIONS!

Not looking to hijack or anything, but I have a similar story. A dog showed up in my yard on Monday. Mind you NOBODY very close to me has dogs like this, and my yard is fenced and gates are kept closed. It's almost as if this one, who couldn't possibly jump the fence, was PUT in my yard.

Anyway, skinny thing needs food. I get it set up in a kennel in the house and call the Humane Society. I explain to the person who answered that I am NOT looking to turn the animal in, but let me give you my info and a brief description of it, and if anyone calls, get in touch with me. The vets offices around here have told people to do that for years.

My mom and I were in there last week, they're full up, and have a TON of little kitties, too. My thinking was that I would ease the pressure for them a bit and foster this one until it's real owners turn up.

The lady tells me, "Oh no, we can't do that. You'll have bring the dog in. If you keep it for 6 days, it's legally YOUR animal, and we DON'T accept surrender pets. Not only that, but this way, we don't have to be bothered with putting the owners in touch with you."

HUH?????? "don't have to be bothered"????

More flyers are going up at the feed stores tomorrow. If we can't find the rightful owners, this dog will live here. We have a Shih/Yorkie and if it were him that were missing, I'd be going out of my mind with worry. Can't help but hope this dog's owners feel the same.

note: Please don't take offense as my post was purposely vague about this dog. I want to make sure this dog goes to it's rightful home.

I have a major peeve about irresponsible animal owners myself. Glad you took Casey. Fate works in mysterious ways. It has brought me many critters.
Or was it the sucker sign on my forehead?
All kidding aside, you have a heart of gold.
She is precious and in good hands now.
